Former QPR player Marco "the ghost" Ramkilde has signed for his old club AaB in Denmark. At least he must be pretty good in training :-)

AaB and Ramkilde make an agreement for the rest of the year
28 September 2022 at 09:30 by Brian Andersen
Marco Ramkilde has trained with AaB since the start on July 1, when his contract with the English Queens Park Rangers expired.
Now AaB and the 24-year-old attacker formalize the collaboration.

Marco Ramkilde already came to AaB as an U/11 player from the partner club Aalborg KFUM, but after two injury-plagued years in the Superliga squad, it was agreed in the summer of 2019 to stop the collaboration when the contract expires.

After a break, Marco Ramkilde regained courage in football life, which in March 2020 led to a contract with Queens Parks Rangers, and the agreement with the London club was extended in spring 2021.

AaB's managing director and acting sporting director Thomas Bælum states:

- In the AaB Academy, many talented strikers have hatched over the years, and at one point Marco Ramkilde was described by our coaches as the most complete of them all.

- Unfortunately, Marco has had an unfortunate course in his first years as a senior player, but since his return this summer he has confirmed time and time again in training that his skills and goal-danger are intact, and most recently, and not least, he has impressed Erik Hamrén (AaB's head coach, ed.), says Thomas Bælum.

- Now we have initially made a short agreement, but it would please us enormously if we were to extend the contract in a few months, states Thomas Bælum.

Marco Ramkilde, who is noted for 29 international matches (youth level) and seven goals for Denmark, adds:

- I have really enjoyed being back in AaB and have put in the effort day by day, and it has been important for me to prove to both the club and myself that I can be in full training over a longer period.

- Therefore, I agree that the timing is right now, and hopefully I can relatively quickly contribute with minutes on the pitch and make a difference. In any case, I am prepared to continue the hard work, and hopefully my stay in AaB can be longer again, says Marco Ramkilde.

Marco Ramkilde, who previously played five official matches for AaB, will get shirt number 29.

Marco Ramkilde doesn't and never did exist, nothing is going to convince me otherwise sadly. But good attempt.

Marco made an appearance for us. Can't remember him doing anything though.

The enigma! I am pretty sure I was at a home game in which he came on off the bench for the last few minutes. He didn't do anything memorable, although to be fair to him, it's not easy to adjust to the speed of the game when you come on late, or so I am told. No personal experience of that yet, but I live in hope! Mick, if you're reading this...

"Things had started becoming increasingly desperate at Loftus Road but QPR have been handed a massive lifeline and the place has absolutely erupted. it's carnage. It's bedlam. It's 1-1."

I thought he won a header, and for approximately 6 hours was the answer to all our striker problems?

That's the spirit, when you're talking about the ghost that was Ramkilde.

Not sure how much we paid in wages, signing on fee, insurance, kit washing, etc. but what a header and what a six hours though.

I seem to remember it was the away draw with WBA when Eze signed off with a cracking equaliser.
