FIFA World Cup thread. 12:02 - Nov 15 with 166130 viewsSnipper

I’m trying to get excited about this World Cup, but to no avail :-((.

I’ve just watched Sky Sports World Cup preview with Gary Neville, Jamie Redknapp, Jamie Carragher & Karen Carney. Utterly depressing viewing. Same old, same old. Picking players for the starting XI not playing for their clubs, or totally off form.

I’m hoping this thread can get the juices flowing.

Do any of you think England have a chance?

They are making our result against Iran look really impressive.

You just know that Wales/Bale are going to nick a goal here.

Iran look half decent today. I wonder if the occasion got to them on Monday with the national anthem situation etc.

Well it certainly feels like your day when you give the ball away, they hit the post, you give it straight back to them, they hit the other post, and then the goalkeeper saves the rebound from 5 yards out despite being sat on the floor.

Trying to win an important game by constantly passing the ball to an opponent on the edge of your own box feels like something QPR would try.

A great effort by Iran last 15/20 minutes in particular. Both posts in the space of 2 mins, fcuking hell, and the second one was a total pearler. Good match really.

Loving the Welsh dedication to keeping Aaron Ramsey on the pitch despite the fact he was blowing after about 10 minutes

Wales are awful. Hopefully they don't re-appear in another World Cup for another 64 years.

As ever, I'm in awe of superfans who can go from absolutely devestated to thrilled silly just bacause their face appears on a big screen.

You put me on the big screen in these circumstances you'll be getting a big middle finger for your efforts.

Wales have been doing that all day, giving the ball away on the edge of their own box, amazed they got away with it for as long as they did.

Sorry to any Welsh R’s but that’s genuinely very funny. Thunderclap.
