Just a little reminder to me to say what occurred to me watching the World Cup. Watching Messi and the things he did I found myself thinking again and again "wow, that reminds me of Stan". I was genuinely happy for Messi to end up with the accolade that had eluded him.
For many younger Rs fans that never saw Stan play, it's hard to imagine that someone that good could have played for our club for so long. He really was that good, and the only shame is that there is so little footage of him, particularly compared to the wall to wall coverage available today.
It's heartbreaking to think that the man himself can't even remember how magical he was. Happy Birthday Stan. |  | | |  |

Unfortunately, a lot of coverage was destroyed or taped over as tv execs did not realize there would be as much interest decades later. | |
