| masters golf on 10:56 - Apr 5 by robith | Yeah but you're wasting the win part of the bet if it has no chance, plus the extra places come at a price sacrifice vs those with fewer places so you have to reassess if the place part still is value at the lower prices. A good return doesn't equal good value in betting. Scottie isn't favourite on betfair exchange, his price has been flat for days and there have been no large backs or lays so I suspect you're imagining things, the "volume of bets" placed is speculation of the highest order, likely erroneous. I'm sorry to go in so hard, but betting is a emotive topic and people can be drawn in by what they read, so inaccuracy has to be challenged robustly Edit: in fact, all the money is for Rory. £690k backed on the machine vs £512k for Scottie, repeated £30K+ drops on Rory in the last couple of days [Post edited 5 Apr 2023 11:01]

Wise words - it's all the bookies' bluff and bluster. As if there could be some massive "in the know" plunge on an event like the Masters. Every single player would actually pay to win, never mind let someone else win so that a few bets can be landed. It's like when someone's got a "hot tip" for the Derby or the National. That's just a betting opinion. If everyone is trying 100% then no-one is "in the know". Not even the owner, trainer, golfer themself. 3:40 at Lingfield on a deserted Monday, that's when I would take notice of someone "in the know". Else, it's just more baloney and money for the bookies I am afraid. [Post edited 5 Apr 2023 11:23]

Never ,ever, base your bets on someone elses opinion.I've lost count of the times so-called "experts" have bombed. My own opinion is not a recomendation . Arguing with someone over bets is like playing chess with a pigeon. It doesnt matter if you're following the form or have the better strategy, the bird won't bother with either.Instead, it'll knock everything over, shit all over the board, and strut around believing itself your superior.

| masters golf on 12:08 - Apr 5 with 1361 views | hubble | Golf seems to be one of those marmite sports. Maybe all sports are, but golf seems to be particularly despised outside of its fanbase. I love watching it, and the Masters is a phenomenal exhibition of the best in golf, in a beautiful setting. However, for those of you not into golf (is it mandatory for the 'good walk ruined' phrase to be trotted out every single time golf is mentioned?), I give you Paige Spirinac: | |

Ok, well I couldn't help but look it up £10 each way on Homa at 25/1 (£20 total stake) returns £60 if he places. £40 profit Homa top 10 finish is best price 5/2. £20 stake returns £70. £50 profit. Hence my point, if you don't think the win part of your each way bet can win, you're probably not getting value from your stake unless it's a proper proper big price where the 1/5 place is bigger than a place only bet. Hence my original umbrage at your point that "each way is value" - it isn't by default
| masters golf on 22:37 - Apr 5 with 1011 views | TomS | The Masters on TV heralds the arrival of Spring. Picking a winner of a major is always a lottery and shouldn't be taken seriously. You rarely get a winner, but you never stop trying! I have thrown a few darts at it and have backed Homa, Young, Burns and Conners at generous odds. Good luck all. | | | |
| masters golf on 07:21 - Apr 6 with 912 views | WokingR | Going back to Digwell’s original post, just read that Augusta haven’t invited Greg Norman so he won’t even be there. Fair play to them | | | |
| masters golf on 10:59 - Apr 6 with 844 views | TheChef | Well Mrs Chef patriotic as ever, has e/w bets on McIlroy and Rose. I've been more pragmatic and opted for Spieth and Thomas. Don't particularly like either of them, but hope they make me some money! | |
