| Caicedo £111m!!! on 08:47 - Aug 14 by PlanetHonneywood | If ever you needed evidence of the scant regard for the value of money in football, this deal is it! While not privy to the negotiations, if it were me, then as MC has made it abundantly clear all summer that Chelsea is his preference, I would match Liverpool's offer as opposed to feeling the need to better it by £4m?!! |
Looks like Caicedo and Brighton gambled by saying he was going to sign for Liverpool and it paid off because they knew that chelsea named him as their No1 target a couple of months ago. Its a win win for Brighton and the player... looks clever now that he signed for the biggest spenders in the Prem. Also I thought the powers that be were going to try and stop clubs (mainly chelsea) from avoiding FFP by doing the 8 year long contract thing???
| Caicedo £111m!!! on 10:52 - Aug 14 with 1985 views | Bluce_Ree | Think about what £115m could do for QPR and they can just spend that on one 21 year old. Shit sport to be fair. Game's ruined and is now covered in piss. | |

I think they can still issue contracts of any length they like but what they can't do is spread the transfer costs over the "extra years". UEFA limits the amortisation period to 5 years.

are there any sports that have been improved by tv money??? F1 is totally sterile now (watch a Grand Prix form the 1990's and compare to todays bore fest), Cricket is now really watered down with all the formats, England rugby union is now at a terrible standard (watch Saturdays international if you don't believe me), Heavyweight boxers are holding everyone to ransom and the top fighters appear to be avoiding eachother unless they get a kings ransom. What the hell is currently happening with Golf... does anybody know?... I suppose the only game that has remained really watchable despite money is tennis? This years Wimbledon final was one of the best ever (imho).
| Caicedo £111m!!! on 11:56 - Aug 14 with 1880 views | Hayesender | Watching MOTD yesterday, Sheffield utd and Luton looked so far out of their depth. Especially Luton, who I'd be surprised if they won two games all season. The gap between the haves and have nots is off the scale now | |

Yes, the new 5 year amortisation rule came into effect from 1 July

Even my fave sport, MMA, has been fked by it. The UFC was sold to WME and got a huge ESPN TV deal. They just have to put on events most weeks no matter what but that means a lot of watered down shitty cards with fighters you've never heard of.

I must admit I don't think I could remember a game with Caicedo showing his talents to such an extent he is now worth this silly money, whereas a couple of years back he cost Brighton £4m. Fair play to Brighton reaping the rewards of the so called elite clubs. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

I'm assuming that you are referring to players having been here for an eternity as schoolboys. Darnell Furlong would definitely come into this category & hopefully Rayan Kolli will be the next. I don't know whether you would consider Marcus Bean & Stefan Bailey has having played enough first team games to qualify.
| Caicedo £111m!!! on 21:10 - Aug 20 with 989 views | paulparker | Enzo and Caicedo will have better days - but Mudryk is just a fleabitten dog turd - I think he was in his first season at Shaktyr Donetsk and had made 2 or 3 good cameo performances in the league stage of last year's champions - and on that flimsy basis someone buys him for E108 million - truly unbelievable. Pink boots and butterfly tatoos - instagram likes and nuttin else. | |
| And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot
That’s there that’s two, and that’s Bowles

My son is a Liverpool fan and was relieved to see that they seem to have dodged a bullet by missing out on signing Caicedo. He suggested it was the worst debut ever. I told him to look up Jonathan Woodgate's debut for Real Madrid.

Wikipedia has Bean down for 76 games and 2 goals between 2002 and 2006 which is a fair total.
