Wrong way to look at it. If you have a whole load of hoarded shit it's almost certain you won't be able to find something easily so you'll end up buying another one. But more than that, if you have a hundred items you think you might need one day, you'll actually only ever need a handful of them. So get rid of all of them and then buy whatever you need when you need it. Obviously this doesn't apply to rare or high value stuff, but we all know that stuff isn't the problem. I'm in the middle of a multi-year project clearing out all my unwanted shit and it feels great every time something leaves the house. Even better, my vast record and CD collection often yields items of value so I'm getting paid for someone giving me more space in my house.

I can identify with this. I sometimes have a mad purge of paperwork on my desk because it's just been sitting there for months and within a few days someone will ask if I still have X.

Hoarders..... on 22:17 - Sep 3 with 2045 views | numptydumpty | Yep car boot sale, sell online on facebook marketplace, eBay, amazon, etsy, vinted, gumtree or any platform... Get rid in charity shop, freecycle, freegle... Was watching a hoarders programme other night and this man had all of the national newspapers in the UK of every single day since the sixties and it was all in chronological order... Now that's what I call hoarding...

Hoarders..... on 22:18 - Sep 3 with 2040 views | numptydumpty | Nearest I got to hoarding was I kept all my programmes since my first visit to the mecca in 1980. But I think it was about 1999 that I randomly decluttered and got rid. Never buy a programme now. Too blooming expensive...

Other way round for me! My wife is the ultimate hoarder, nothing but nothing gets thrown away, even things like empty, broken old suitcases stay in the loft!!

Look how much stuff you can hoard in those empty suitcases though.
Hoarders..... on 12:36 - Sep 4 with 1436 views | Juzzie | I am a bit of a hoarder but have tried to cut down since I've had kids though it has been difficult getting rid of stuff as I'm a bit sentimental but I have had to be tough and really only keep the absolute necessary. Interestingly my missus and I have kind of switched since we've had kids. I was a hoarder and she was not, now it's the other way around and I'm begging her to stop buying stuff off vinted!

Hoarders..... on 20:29 - Sep 4 with 1151 views | Spaceman_P | I most definitely am, mostly to the detriment of myself and my wife. I am a record collector, but its usually quite obsessive, for example, when I start buying LPs or 45s by groups, I need to get them all by that artist... same with CD's and tapes. I also have guitars, basses, organ, 8-track recorders, 4-track records, casio keyboards, amps, reverbs, old gear music gear from the 50s and 60s. Books about all sorts, again, super interested in various crap - at the moment obsessed with reading about British wild flowers. Got 3 different classic Raleigh bikes - a 77' Chopper, 82' Grfiter xl and 64' RSW I also got into a few odd models, been making a DeAgostini Volkswagen 1:8 model plus like quirky figurines like Rat Fink - My Wife collects the original My Little Ponies (some are worth significant sums), so the spare-room is a nightmare for mates staying there. Collecting QPR shirts as and when I see them, quality not a priority, usually get all of them second-hand - not a major collection, but its on the go. (know I'll never get original 70s and 80s shirts, so okay about having reissues or fakes of these) went through a phase of buying 60s german ceramics - these are still at my parents in the UK awaiting me to transport them to Spain - with a lot of the other crap mentioned above. As a kid, was obsessed with the sticker books, got a euro 96 and Premier league 95, totally completed! Also had a Pogs album totally complete which my Dad made me give my cousin who lost it. Never been into films, Dvds, video games.... Although recently bought a Nintendo Switch for my wife's birthday and also with the plan for the baby to have it when she's 5 or so and think that could kick-start something as those games look quite cool on a shelf in a line. As a family when I bought a Mini, it got everyone into it... my Dad restored one, my Uncle bought a Clubman... Sad day when we all go rid of our Minis. [Post edited 4 Sep 21:10]

My first car was a 1275 GT purchased from The Loftus Road Garage, just off LR, strangely enough. Regarding hoarding - we have a cellar full of absolute 5hit. It’s all going soon. Most of it, anyway.
| Did I ever mention that I was in Minder? |
