The game model 13:25 - Nov 24 with 1155 viewsSimplyNico

Nourry set out in this interview with a local rag what his "game model" is - https://londonnewsonline.co.uk/sport/qpr-chief-executive-nourry-we-will-stick-wi

His words were tbat the game model is:

"some form of 4-3-3, possession-based, mid-block/high press football,”

adding:

"we did that by looking at the last 10 years of the Championship and what won you points and what allowed you sustainability to bring in 16 to 24-year-old players who could play well in the system, develop and be the best players they could possibly be."

In terms of enforcing this he said:

"We have a club game model of how we want to play football. That’s a document that is now under the per view of our head of methodology [Jon De Souza], who’s in charge of policing the game model."

And it was also indicated in relation to the longevity of his game model:

"Nourry is adamant that the club will not move away from the game model approach even if the team struggles to get results on the pitch, and it will guide the process of appointing head coaches in the future."

Any problems with that?

Just a few.

First, "some form of 433".. Please. What does that mean?

Second, why not broadcast to everyone how we are going to play so they can set up for it.

Third, the data set is historic and relates to players who are, in all likelihood, not in this team given the age profile referred to.

Fourth, this flawed, historic data set refers to Championship players. The players we signed are not Championship players. Nourry would doubtless say that there was room for them to progress as Championship players because you look at their data based attributes. That's possibly fine if you look at all of the attributes. However, how do you focus on a subjective quality like stomach for a fight in an objective data set? In short, he is comparing apples with oranges and saying they are the same thing.

Fifth, having now determined that the flawed basis for how the club will play is the game model, we then have a "Director of Methodology" to enforce it. So who is Methodology copper, Jon De Souza? Well looking at other sources rather than the puff and bullshit we get from Nourry, he is a solid, lower league academy coach - https://www.charltonafc.com/news/view/6262720a6c8e8/jon-de-souza-appointed-as-me Yet he is enforcing the flawed game model. In other words, in terms of policing the flawed methodology, he outranks what Marti wants to do. In other words, it all comes back to Nourry to decide what will happen because he will report to Nourry.

Finally, in terms of Nourry indicating that the gane model will endure even if results do not go our way, this is blatant stupidity. Quite apart from it saying that reality is wrong because it doesn’t fit the flawed methodology, the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, and expecting to get a different result.

I am astonished that our owners think that this experiment is worth persevering with. Instead of data and artificial intelligence, why don't we actually apply some analogue, fact based intelligence to the problem and see if Marti can get a tune out of the rabble he has be given with any sort of system.

Agree with all that except the definition of insanity. It's more a definition of stupidity.

As Clive already pointed out - you look like a right dickhead with one of these in L1

Particularly if it’s done via zoom

It’s a director of goals/strikers/running/tackling/correctly placed &weighted 10yrd passes that’s needed

This is what happens when you have too many layers of management.

That said, having a defined method of playing is what many on this board were crying out for so it’s a bit rich to complain about it when it doesn’t work.

In the end it all comes down to who chose Celar or more to the point, during the summer, just the one CF when we got rid of two forwards from a side that we know has lacked forwards for some years previous.

Cant help feeling if we had Cannon up front we’d be where Stoke are and they’d be in our place.

The thing is, nothing about this makes us in any way unique. Some clubs game models are backed up by huge spending and good recruitment and some are backed up by our shocking recruitment and spending. Some clubs are being run by people who have a lot more about them than the people running us. We probably, as a fanbase, need to get over this obsession with every problem being 'data'. Nothing we are doing in that sense is unique, we just aren't doing it well. Focus on the issue that is Nourry is out of his depth, not the methods by which we aim to progress.

Kim Jung sure is sending confused messages. On the one hand, news from the club is guarded tighter than the Mafia could only ever dream of imposing on their wise guys, and yet, on the other, he's singing like a canary.

Definitely seems like he's trying to get his defence out before the baying mob descends in two weeks. What a bloody mess. Only at the circus could such buffoonery like this be considered sound management.

Oh my god, this!!

Has anyone had the privilege to watch us warm up pre match ?

We go through the same nonsense every match but for a section, our ‘head of methodology’ takes the team through this walking football b*llocks where the defence set up against the attackers who play across and round to the wide men who cross for Celar , the defence don’t go with him or challenge anyone (we never score ) . We then start the process with the defence playing out from a goal kick set up . The attackers don’t shut them down and we play out , at walking pace , until finally we play a ball into Field or Varane and they start the attacking process again , unchallenged and at walking pace .

No one shuts anyone down , no one breaks into a jog and Smyth never finds Celar with a cross .
All over seen by our head of ‘methodology’. Neither Marti or Xavi no where to be seen .

This is before every game . Every game !!!!!

It’s complete nonsense and the players know it . The fact the head coach or his assistant are never present should tell you who is pulling the strings here.
It’s the most unrealistic modern football horsesh*t you can imagine and other teams most just look from the other end of the pitch and just p*ss themselves .
