QPR finances released on 17:35 - Feb 25 by Wilkinswatercarrier | I imagine ours will drop significantly over the next 18 months. It's also a reason why none of those out of contract in the summer will be offered new deals. |
You think they'll drop? I wait to be proved wrong but I'd be surprised if they dropped for the next set of accounts 12 months from now. Last season was the one where we had to limbo under the line and get the losses down to as close to £10m as we could. To do that, and stay up, we gave out a number of contracts to Colback, Cook, Andersen, Frey that were heavily, HEAVILY, weighted towards year two when we had more cap space.

QPR finances released on 22:01 - Feb 23 by Northernr | Well let's stick to the hard facts then. If you take out the free transfers and loans then this summer we got Madsen, Celar, Dembele, Varane, Bennie and Morrison. For £9m. |
The two most expensive from that list being absolute pony. No blue Peter badge award for knowing which two.

You've got to bear in mind that we've yet to fully see what effect Heston has on our finances, also got to consider the new tv deal and the fact we will get extra money from that as well.

The wages dropping that year also had likes of Johansen, Amos and Dieng leaving so big earners were pretty much all gone, it must have gone up this year with those wage rises for the players you mention and the new signings plus new contracts and wage rises for Kolli, Lloyd, Chair, Morgan etc. If Dunne stays he's getting a big rise as well otherwise he'd be mad not to explore his options in the summer Does leave us in a difficult position this summer where we have less room to maneavoure and bring players in and much higher expectations that next season we should be challenging

Are the expectations that we should be challenging next year? Genuine question. I can see the logic but it honestly hadn't crossed my mind. I was hoping for comfortable mid table without the depressing start like this year. Perhaps that's unambitious.

Sorry, not the next set, I meant the ones after when Colback, Cook etc have left. Next years accounts won't be good, but after we should be in a better position. Also, we all new it was not going to look pretty, but I feel a little more confident that the club is heading in the right direction.

Yes, thanks Sam ! Maybe we should pin this somewhere in anticipation of the next discussion relating to new owners.

depends how the season ends but I do think if we finish mid table this year then we should be looking to push for the playoffs next year

QPR finances released on 16:40 - Feb 25 by daveB | it's even worse in the premier league |
It's actually no where near as bad as it is in the Championship. No doubt due to the crazy TV money they receive. But in comparison it does show the disparity of finances in the football pyramid and how much of a catastrophe our league is. The overspending on the "premier league gamble" cannot be sustainable for the majority of teams

We were still receiving parachute payments so that income / wage ratio will look nicer. 35M of TV income that year compared to 9M in the past year

Sadly I think that’s looking less likely every season - he seems happy at Palace, they’re starting to do well and his star faded a bit after his spell at left back during the Euros (thanks Gareth)

Surely that all depends on what exactly the squad looks like when we start next season, so many players out of contract, some that we can happily release and others if they go will detract from the team that has been built this season. Another big Summer of contract negotiations and team building before we can start making predictions for next season......

Don't know about that. lots of reports that Spurs are in again and he wants to leave, career in doldrums, new challenge etc. Actually think it would be mutually beneficial for all concerned now, especially us of course.

I think Eze has a release clause in his palace deal which is reported to be around £68m, which is £60m up front and £8m in addons. I think Tottenham have Eze as one of their top targets, so its looking very likely he moves on this summer. Typically sell on fees include the whole transfer fee and not just the profit, so assuming its 20% and he goes for £68m, we would get £13.6m.

I mean we'll take the money, but Spurs? Really? Surely no one deserves that.

I'm cautiously optimistic but that post nails it. If we lose 6 defenders, 2 loans and 4 OOC, then we have a major rebuild to come. But if we resign Dunne and Cook, and some more of the youngsters (Bennie, Sutton, Tuck) progress then we'll have as good a chance as the teams currently 5th-15th.
