We love our former U's, well most of them anyway, so thought I'd start a thread where we can keep up with them.
Thought I'd kick things off with a happier moment for Matt Jay in Essex as he scored a long ranger against Chelmsford at the weekend. It wasn't a joyous return though as Torquay shipped two late goals to lose 3-2 after leading 2-0.
We are delighted to announce the signing of former Colchester United defender Mandela Egbo.
Chelmsford City .
I can't remember if I posted this link on here regarding Egbo:
Interesting podcast/interview with Manny here from about 2 months ago. He talks about why he turned down his contract at Colchester and the day to day life of a lower league footballer.

His rejection of the contract extension at Col U to play at a higher level hasn't really worked out. I'd imagine he'll end up either in League Two or the National League next season although if Chelmsford are paying better than most then he might stay.

Chelmsford might be replacing Braintree in the Nation League next season.
After a slow start to the season, they are currently 9th after thrashing Matt Jay's (remember him!) Torquay 0-5. Lyle Taylor (again) scoring the 3rd.
Egbo started the match and lasted 74' before being subbed off. Tom Lapslie (the Spurs Slayer) comes off the bench in the 60'.
They have a couple of games in hand on a few teams above them in the play-offs.
Angelo Harrop and John White maybe waving to their former employer on their way up?!?
