Walk past the Sindercombe, under the railway viaduct, turn right immediately (up the alley), it's ok.

Boston give us a summit of your pre and post beer journey today One of the rare days when the rain stopped play at the flock for us and a renewal at the White Horse for the first time since Leeds

I was following others preferences yesterday. The Sindercombe was initially mentioned as the starting point, but upon arrival we were informed it was away fans only, so crossed the street and opened the day in The Bush (Brew Dog). Too open and modern for me, apparently hopes to have bands / entertainment, which explained the roomy space. Beer was ok. Moved down to the next new establishment, The Hawks Nest. Same owner as The Bush, same beers, but a very different and interesting layout. Again, wouldn't be my go to venue, but a good use of a dead space and was quite happy to spend money in there. On again, we entered the Shepherd & Flock, slowly entered that is because compared to the first two establishments that were fairly quiet, you'd think they were giving beer away judging from the friggin' crowd in and outside the place. Few Hull fans there as well but everyone well behaved and well oiled. Ever onwards we strolled around to the C & S. Again, heaving, too fuggin crowded for my liking but fast service and good atmosphere keeps me from knocking the place nor bothered to head to another watering hole. To match. Where we don't drink, for all the same reasons mentioned by others over the years. After - chat with a few people outside the club shop, then we decided on the Hawthorn, also rammed but we got a decent corner, so settled down for a few. Nice atmosphere of course, everyone buzzing, then drink starting to alter our minds we began to drift off. I almost called it a night but opted for a snifter in The Weld, ok, but none of the faces that are usually found within, who I believe, have either passed away or moved to Wales. See ya in Blackburn. Sounds like a nice little tour. The Bush Tavern (to give it it's full name) is meant to do really good burgers. There was a weird little spot on Old Oak Road near the A40 called No Drama that was excellent - they've started at The Bush Tavern now, so want to get down and try the food.

I did notice that the food looked decent.

Is it a pub, bar or cocktail bar?
| The New Pub on 16:32 - Nov 24 with 1110 views | terryb | Not a new pub, but I'm sorry to report that for at least the second time this season, The Defectors managed to be a Youngs pub that didn't sell Youngs! This pub has got worse with every passing week since the refurbishment in 2024. | | | |

On the subject of Young's - Winter Warmer is back and is IMHO, the only one of their beers to be anywhere the standard of when it was brewed in Wandsworth.

No dispute from me there colin. Prior to the refurbishment The Defectors sold Youngs Bitter, Youngs Special & Proper Job. Now Youngs Bitter is the only trad ale stocked. That is, unless they make it unavailable!

It's been going downhill since it's refurb in about 2014 when it got bought by Youngs. Before that it had an excellent range of really interesting beers that you'd rarely see on tap elsewhere - now it's often the same old Youngs line-up (although I haven't been in a long while). Lost it's character IMO.

A modern space which serves beer, cocktails and probably food (didn't check the menu), that's all things healthy.
