At this point of the discussion, I would like to remind readers that Mr Sheen's parents owned and operated an eatery in Willesden - his recommendations have so far not included any of the house specialties.

Cricklewood if you don’t mind and neither went near the kitchen for the ten months they owned it, to the immense advantage of their patrons. Fry-ups in the morning (and lunchtime), bacon and cabbage in the evenings.

Now a Pizza place called the Royal Grill apparently. Not well reviewed!

"Sardines on toast for Sunday tea. Wouldn't go near it now."

Well, I still have that for lunch every now and then. A dash of Worcestershire sauce really peps them up, mmm.

Live update: I am regaling myself with sardines on toast as we speak. Mmm

On the subject of crisps, I remember that these blew my mind when they first appeared, not just in terms of taste but also in terms of texture; they were pretty chunky, as I recall.

That simple delicacy had completely dropped out of my lunchtime rotation - had forgotten all about it!

Will be getting it back on the menu immediately.

Another one was Scotbloc cooking chocolate out of the bakery drawer.

It came in good size squares too. Easy money.

I’ve got a dim memory of them being shaped like pork scratchings, with adidas-stripe colour/flavouring. Certainly nicer than real pork scratchings!
