This is basically my list if I was allowed to do Christmas dinner.
However, in Yankee land we do turkey at Thanksgiving so unless I'm across the pond the wife does a beef tenderloin for Christmas dinner. Which is also delightful, but I do miss the turkey

We do chicken instead of turkey, which avoids 9 days of leftovers boring the sh1t out of everyone.

Why stop now, just when I'm hating it

Duck and/or roast pork with crackling, boiled potatoes, AND the small round new potatoes you get in jars but cooked in a sugar type syrup, red cabbage, a brown thick sauce which I have no idea what it is, and ready salted crisps.
The same as the last 19 years. Thats Denmark.
Twas always thus, og thus twil always be.
It's actually not too shabby.

Technology advances, unfortunately humans do not.

We discussed this last year I think but our meal is pretty much this like Boston but we have Virginia Smoked spiral ham and turnips mixed with onions or carmalized to give it the proper name.Carrots and parsnips together really confuse the Yanks but are delicious.Nobody here ia able to attempt roast potatoes so we stick to Champ (northern Ireland mash with scallions, milk and Kerrygold I normally produce this one) Buttered crossiants before we devour the main course then my favorite ice cream cake with Barrys tea to wash it all down
Cheers .

As with all pwaper LFW geezers, I do the cooking on Christmas Day.

Although I love turkey (cook upside down for the first half of the cooking time, cover and allow an hour to rest before carving) Mrs PH and I are basically vegan. So I'm serving up a vegan pithivier (our guest will, however, have a chicken brest), with regular trimmings all done with various spicy twists.

I say virtually as we bought some wonderful local stuff for the cheese board.

Now up, getting a jump on the vegan gravy and mustard and citrus dressing for the artichokes starter.

Gentleman, go well in the kitchen today and joyeux noël from me....'kin 'ave it!

I refuse to entertain Turkey ever since they invaded Cyprus.

Greetings from the kitchen. Yeah, give me a nice curry with all the sides anyday. But if I dared to suggest that round my gaff, I'd have my toes turned into vindaloo, so the traditional roast it is. I draw the line at Turkey though (no wonder we never eat the ghastly stuff the rest of the year) so duck and beef it is; sigh. Highlight of the meal (apart from my best claret) is the roast potatoes though - yummy.

I trust the cheese isn’t vegan PH😳

Turkey here, roasted some gammon last night. All the trimmings plus my world famous roast potatoes that can cut diamonds.

My dear departed Mum used to make Xmas puddings all round. Was the start of advent family event and we used to come home from school in December to be welcomed by the latest round of steaming. I now resort to a pudding bought from Borough Market, complete with sixpence!

Merry Xmas everybody!

Cooking a 2.5kg herb fed chicken and a Beef Wellington from the “Game Larder” in Claygate. Washed down with lots of Champagne - Lanson is this years choice. 🥂 Bit unusual for us this year as Christmas in Aus is prawns, Bugs, Lobster and 35 degrees

Can't say I'm a great sprouts fan, but I find that if you saute them with bacon bits and onion for 5 mins or so in hot olive oil, and then add some lemon juice and lots of salt and pepper when they're done, they're not bad - really. The problem with the English is they tend to boil them to buggery.

Vegan cheese isn't quite there. Yet!

A bleu des basques, brie with truffle, aged cantal, and a young goat cheese.

Don't mind fessing up....my dwindling stash of piccalilli will be raided and here, you get some honey infused with truffles which is to die for.

Just taking a 5 minute wine break...hope you chefs are 'kin 'avin it and killin' it!!

Sprouts are the first thing you get on, before the turkey. Use your hygrometer to check when they've reached the desired 99% water content.

To be fair, half the turkey was covered with grease at one time.

So what’s with these ‘self-basting’ turkeys, then? How do they do that? They’re dead. And in the oven. Shirley?
