Super League starts tonight in shocking conditions but the 4G spoils the fun, NRL just weeks away. York holding their own for the moment , I used to coach Union with a York fanatic, I hope they can hold their own this season.

Wow. I got that wrong!
I'm not sure whether I'm in shock or awe at the Wakefield performance today. The only period they didn't outplay Wigan was the ten minutes they were down to 12.
Most of you that read this thread understand & know far more about RL than me, but I thought that the confidence that Walmsley, Jowitt & Johnstone showed in dealing with the return of all of the kicks laid a foundation. All of them made good ground as well, before the forwards ate up yards. To my amateur eye, I also thought Trueman was outstanding.
I will miss next weeks final as I will be in Santorini (away on holiday during the international break), but I'm so pleased I witnessed today's win.
It’s so important they don’t see tonight as the summit, they’re easily good enough to win next week. I haven’t seen a lot of Warrington this year, but they don’t seem to have a lot of inspiration.

Wow wow wow
Finally got round to watching the second half after turning it off on Sunday when I saw the Cleary injury. Unbelievable courage from Newcastle, what a turn out by their fans. Crossland’s tackle though…
It seems that Crossland’s suspension will lead to Diesel Hagan, a local junior, being included in the squad and possibly making his debut. And Diesel appears to be his real name. Strange place, Newcastle.

Value of good club culture, good backroom, good performance team, good coaching versus the opposite. Three of those players - Trueman, Pitts, Scott - were outstanding for Wakefield tonight. All of them played for Hull and were out of shape, injured, mediocre and disappointing.

Powell vs Burgess was no contest. Warrington didn’t know what they were doing a lot of that game.

too wound up totalk about the nrl final but congrats to wakfield.Proper old skool rugby league club.
Daryl Powell deserves this. Built a great side Clough style mixing tough old warhorses with young talent.
Had a fiver on cameron scott for first try scorer so that was a nice little bonus for the cystic fibrosis trust.
England squad under mcdermott for the upcoming world cup will be fathoms better than under the last ludite wane. i reckon we could go far.
something like below could take us very close as the aussies are severly weakend with injuries and departures to the pacific islands..
1. Welsby J 2. Johnstone T 3. Farnworth H 4. Smith B 5. Young D 6. Williams G 7. Connor J 8. King M 9. Clarke D 10. Mcmeeken M 11. Nsemba J 12. Paerce Paul K 13. Radley V
14. Thompson L 15. Trout O 16. Knowles M 17. Nicholson M
on top of that theres still hald a dozen or so that are easily interchangable, disgusting the world cup isnt on sky, tnt or fee to air.
Go you green machine.
Where there's a will - and there is a will - there's a way - and there is a way.

Got tickets for a couple of games so far, England v PNG in Wollongong and the Second Semi Final in Sydney (seeded for England to get there). One thing they do very well here is make tickets affordable for League.
Can make a decent case for about 5 sides (Aussies favourites obviously bit lack of Cleary and Kevin Walters in charge great levellers) but New Zealand pack exceptionally strong. Samoa will be strong again and Tonga will not be at all easy for England in Perth a week Saturday, very very solid line up. Will try and get to Tonga v Samoa in Parramatta. Games and build up between the Pacific Islanders a great experience.

I was optimistic because Wane was an absolute dinosaur, then they took Mikey Lewis instead of Jake Connor and that started to slide again.
Will be at the final in Brisbane

Choosing Kevin Walters as the main to lead St Helens back to greatness is completely crackers.

I have a lot of time for Brian Mc, so I'm prepared to give him a little wriggle room, but the Jake Connor omission is disappointing, especially as Mc had been talking him up earlier this season. I still think England will be much better than last year.
New Zealand look pretty formidable, I think they'd be my favourites this year.

Maybe he'll be exactly the coach Lewis needs atm but he's been a total liability for Rovers this year.

When Hull FC were actually good and won a couple of cups they had Sneyd and Kelly at half, Shaul at full back and Conor and Griffin in the centres with Talanoa and Fonua outside of them. Connor at centre was an absolute cheat code, so much space out there. He then played centre for England in some weird one off test match in Denver and was, again, fantastic.
He doesn't have to be a half if we're so wrapped up in the idea of George Williams still having it,
