Delighted win the win and the finishing was absolutely sublime (can’t think of another chances to goals ratio for us - boot on the other foot earlier this season at Coventry but they were tearing us apart anyway - like it but maybe Jack will have the answers).

Pompy were the better side ... just.
But remember, we had injuries to key players, yes, they actually have more injuries than us, but I am not sure they are the same level of key players.
Their keeper is not very good, and their defence is suicidal. Should have started Bishop from the start, and they deserved a penalty when it was 4-1.
Really, their squad is not that good. It's between them and Leicester, to go down with Oxford and Sheff W. |

I thought their left winger, Alli, was really handy. He gave Amadou Mbengue some game. Looking at his wiki page he has very much worked his way up from the lower steps of the pyramid so well done to him. Apart from that I thought they were bog standard - and they only linked together impressively on a handful of occasions. Leicester just about have more about them. [Post edited 22 Mar 21:45]

I think part of the reason the stats make Portsmouth look better is we raced into such a fast lead that they just started pumping the ball forward as much as possible and shooting on sight whenever they could out of desperation.
That said, small margins, had that free kick gone in at 1-0 when Walsh saved it could have gone very differently. |  | | |

This post (which by the way is correctly on - 7 votes) and the XG rating is proof that some people don't fully understand football and also XG is the most pointless system ever.. Did qpr deserve to win 6-1? Perhaps not but come one we were clearly the more ruthless better side and no XG stat can tell me otherwise...
Football is simple... Very simple... You can create various stats and read into shots and possession stats all you want but the purpose and drive of one team can't be quantified and QPR were on one today and to be honest - at bloody last - as we have been awful for weeks!

I like it as a simple way of figuring out how close the two teams were overall in terms of creating chances but no single number is ever going to be fair and reflective of everything. Not least, if you outperform your xG then you have done better than expected and therefore should get some credit for that which by it's very definition xG won't give you.
But yeah, 1.6 vs 1.6 would say it was a lot closer than the shoreline suggests, which is fair. All about how you use it I guess. |  | | |

There's various parts of a match. Possession, touches in the box and goal attempts are a part. But when you score 6 goals from 8 attempts on target and the opposition defend like they've only just taken up the game, then the losing team definitely weren't the better side. |  |

I agree Ned. On the other hand it perhaps shows us how bad our five, six, seven goal defeats are. As all the Pompey videos have quite a lot of film of them attacking, missing chances, Walsh saves - whereas on our shellackings you are lucky to have seen a Rangers player set foot in the opposition half all game.
In a way, I think that has conditioned some to feel like it wasn't a true five goal win. But it was - we scored five more than them and that is all that counts. |  | | |
