Delighted win the win and the finishing was absolutely sublime (can’t think of another chances to goals ratio for us - boot on the other foot earlier this season at Coventry but they were tearing us apart anyway - like it but maybe Jack will have the answers).
But I did feel a bit sorry for pompey as I thought they put a shift in and played well. Can see them staying up if they convert chances.

This. Being 3 up after half an hour is obviously going to change the game. They had no choice but to come out at us. Yes, they were still in it at 3 - 1but once we scored the fourth, with 35 minutes to go, that was it. That was the fifth time I've seen Rangers score six in my entire life. Enjoy it. To say we would have shipped double figures to a top four side, as another poster said, is ludicrous

Pompey had loads of the ball, but bar Alli on the wing (who when he realised he couldn't skin Mbengue decided to whip in some brilliant crosses instead) had very little. We backed ourselves to deal with what they had and consequently did. Their shots came from outside the box I felt, which with Swift is always a danger. But they missed their big chance at 3-1 just after half time to pull it back and after that they were done. Obviously wasn't a 6-1 win on stats... but we managed the game pretty well and took our chances.

That chance after half time was the game. That went in, I think they would have notched it up and we may have wilted.
Not sure the OP deserved all the down votes here as it wasn't that wild a statement. I didn't agree necessarily but the stats showed that they had the chances, but couldn't put them away.
The score certainly flattered us; for once WE were the clinical ones. Usually the opposition score with their first shot on target.
Football is a sport where the result can bare little relation to the performance. If you work back from the result to form an opinion you will often get it horribly wrong as I saw a comment about Middlesbrough v Charlton on another thread. Middlesbrough pulverised them and lost.
I’ve only seen the highlights but Portsmouth seemed to have as many reasonable chances as we did. We just had a dream day of finishing, which was great. Very unlikely to be repeated but immensely enjoyable, not least because of those that scored.

We gave the ball away countless times in CM trying to make really basic passes under zero pressure. Strip out the goals, and I don't think anyone can say we played good attractive football.
This performance was no different than those against Blackburn a couple of weeks ago. Even JS said we played a lot better.
Nice to score 6, but it was all a bit 'meh'. Like Derby last season.
If we'd have played like that against top 4, scored 6 goals, and let in "double figures" then that would go down as one of the greatest games of all time

Pompey had 27 shots against Derby county in their previous game . And lost . A pattern emerging here . There a bit s**t in front of goal .
This threat is nearly as crazy as the match itself.
Teams going down by 3 early on often get a lot of possession and often shots thereafter. The game was won.
Yes we were clinical and yes we scored some crackers. But three of our goals were from our players bursting onto a through ball/or winning the ball and beating the keeper with a decent finish….i.e the second goal for each of Smyth, Kolli and Kone. They didn’t break through us once, not once. Every shot they had was from 20 odd yards out, under pressure from a defender or a header under pressure.
Irrespective of XG, you would likely take Smyth x 2, Kolli’s second and both of Kone’s as far better quality chances than almost all of Pompey’s

Portsmouth eating six helpings of dick against anyone is good. For it to be us, little old QPR, having a dick party in their mouths is even better.
We seem to get drubbed far too often for my liking. And don't forget, we are Charity Park Rangers. So this is all positive. It might not have reflected the stats but we've pulled out two wins now when we desperately needed them.

Some unbelievably harsh comments on here. I thought the key moment was at 1-0 up when Walsh made that really good save down to his right from a Swift free kick, 1-1 there and rest of game would have been very different. To quote Brian Moore in World in Motion 'We want goals'. We got goals. They were wide open at the back and that's something a team battling relegation simply can't be if they want to stay up.

Our first win over Pompey in four meetings since they came up so let's enjoy it. They have had 47 goal attempts in two matches and scored once. It is not our problem they can't score or defend.
By and large whoever we play has more possession than us. We can beat teams like Portsmouth and other sides like Hull and Bristol City with less possession than them. However, with less possession against better teams like Middlesbrough and Southampton, who take the chances that teams like Pompey waste, we usually lose.

Did qpr deserve to win 6-1? Perhaps not but come one we were clearly the more ruthless better side and no XG stat can tell me otherwise...
Football is simple... Very simple... You can create various stats and read into shots and possession stats all you want but the purpose and drive of one team can't be quantified and QPR were on one today and to be honest - at bloody last - as we have been awful for weeks!
