I’ve been his harshest critic but hats off to Cabango today who was absolutely brilliant. Burgess not too shabby either.

We're still lacking in the final third, Idah did okish, but I think he could have done a little better with that room he had just outside the box, near the final minutes, that said its more than a decent point. [Post edited 6 Apr 20:24]

Agree with you about Middlesbrough they seemed a complete team on and off the ball, where as we huffed and puffed. Parker was very good but why did we leave him so exposed, Key and Galbraith were never left exposed like that. Idah has pace to burn, probably the quickest number 9 we have had for a while, plus he is very strong on the ball. Enjoyed the game, I wouldn't say we were lucky to get a draw but I don't think we could have complained if we had lost. 3 penalties in the last two games earned us 2 points, there is still a lot of work to do.

Should have had 3 penalties today that ball hit the boroughs players arm it might have hit his chest, but that was after the ball hit his arm. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

In fairness he does raise a point about Walta. He has struggled to settle so far. There is definitely a player in there but he is yet to show it for us.

We didn't deserve anything out of that game. Midfield overrun, but great defensive display. Best footballing side seen down here this season. We are miles off this standard
| Swansea City v Middlesbrough: Match day thread on 21:12 - Apr 6 with 1678 views | Boundy | Whay an entertaining match , full of incident ,effort and skill, I thought Brough as a team were the best I've seen this season , full of pace and some of their interplay was a joy to watch so after that defensive display by us to limit their chances to 5 was no mean feat. A great point and more for the manager to mull over, like many around me we were baffled trying to work out what position Cullen was supposed to be in and it was telling the amount of times Parker was left with at least two or sometimes three opposition to deal with. Vigs kicking was initially poor with 3 balls going straight into touch but all that was forgotten by again making 3 world class saves and I thought his decision making was much better today. | |

From what I can gather we played well in parts against strong opposition and maybe earned a point rather than deserved one. Certainly their equaliser was no penalty. If anything he had Eom's shirt. Good to see Matos being brave enough to make a few changes, but he's doing himself few favours with some of his subs and his weird insistence on giving both Cullen and Ronald regular game time.

Ronald didn't start today but in my opinion its a game he should have. Leaving the inexperienced Parker with no cover in front of him was baffling, a couple of times Parker had three running at him with no help.

I'm not a great fan of LC in any position but he's even less of a wide player than anything else. Most people seem to suggest that he was on the flank today. Is that accurate? If it is then that raises even more questions with Nunes on the bench.

In my opinion he didn't play wide, right side of midfield but closer to the middle than the touchline. Most of the game Parker had no cover apart from Cabango inside him who was excellent today.

He's good when the defence is set and there's support around him. He's not so good when the defence is stretched and he's faced by pacey strikers.

| Swansea City v Middlesbrough: Match day thread on 22:29 - Apr 6 with 1385 views | RichardO | In many respects a typical Championship game, we start without a winger on the right and Cullen deployed to get closer to Vipotnik so he isn't isolated leave the young fullback isolated instead. Middlesbrough look the better team and score, then they defend deep and we have to attack being behind and they hope to catch us on the break, Parker mistake for the goal but otherwise looked excellent both defensively and in attack, they drop off we pressure them and low and behold we get the penalties to first go even and then still look the better team to go ahead. Come the second half and even though Middlesbrough had to press we stifled their attacks down the flanks but they did look dangerous through the middle but resolute defending kept them out. Then the subs were made a little to early for my liking and we started dropping off them they played out from the back but we dropped into a holding pattern but we gave them room to push further and further up the pitch which was frustrating as we had previously let their goalie have the ball but for the most part stifle any forward progression by keep our man for man marking tight, yes we reduced them to a lot of crosses but we continued to back off them, could we say we we unfortunate not to catch them on the break but having dropped so deep it is very hard to get enough support up the the forwards, the way we played it seemed as if the goal would be inevitable, soft penalty maybe but pressure told and the ref was itching to give them something. Really once you take the goalie out of the equation when playing out from the back there are 10 out field players against 10 outfield player, we had matched them in parts of the game but dropping to deep giving away territory meant the ball was apt to come start back at us. But there were signs of good options becoming available to us Idah and Parker look to have good qualities to add to the team/squad. Take a draw given we now look to be looking to try things for the future. [Post edited 7 Apr 7:51]

Parker was outstanding today for a youngster against class opposition, especially when you consider in the first half ,as has been stated already, sometimes he had 2 even 3 players going at him with no winger to come back and help him,or even to play the ball to when he tried to go forward, second half with Ronald in front of him,he got forward a good few times and posed a real threat and deserves to play more Cullen was supposed to be that cover and attacking outlet in front of him but was nowhere to be seen ,first half and should have been taken off at halftime, instead he was moved into the middle somewhere????,where he again did absolutely nothing but stayed on the full match ,essentially we played against a team pushing for automatic promotion with 10 men ,Cullen wouldn’t get into any other championship team including those at the bottom,so why does he continue to be played by us ,he gave nothing ,attacking or defensively today,or Friday or even for Wales in the last game for that matter but still plays He’s like that fella at work ,who bums about all day doing buggerall, reading the paper and drinking tea , but getting paid the same as those working their arses off , unbelievable I’ve lost a bit of faith and respect in Matos for continuing to play him, when everybody can see how ineffectual he is but persists in playing him Surely Walta or anyone else for that matter can’t be that bad that Cullen plays before them ,because I think one of those dummies they use in training would have more of an impact for us

Still popping up with poison aiming to cause friction My God, it’s a short so live it Words of more than one syllable are a challenge I know but hang in there , mate To recap, the commentary and focus for the entirety of the programme was extraordinarily focussed on one team It reminded me of the days when we had the audacity ( cheek) to turn up at the likes of Old Trafford or Canfield to see and hear everything relating to the home team Today though, we were the home team We are a decent club and deserve better though some of our own don’t agree

I’ve been questioned about Matos having initially enthused over him Now I’m not so sure There is spirit in the club though and he’s likeable However , whatever attributes he has dissolve when he selects Ron Today, again Give the ball to him and he runs into opponent , trips, passes to the corner flag He has no ball control nor any shot or heading ability He’s to be an attacking player Utterly grotesque as his team mates cover his mistakes Cabsngo proved today that as a pure stopper and team man he can be superb Talk of a role model for kids ? He’s that in spades We have much much deadwood and our loans have been dumb so overall our results have not been bad It’s another frustrating season Boro won’t go up btw, Soton will along with Coventry and Ipswich all of whom who come straight back down again

I think Matos knew that they were a good attacking side in midfield and tried to overload it with Widell/Franco/Cullen working and being busy and cutting down the space. As you say the substitutions we made early to close the game out but again as you say we gave them the initiative. We went behind and brought Yalcouye on to try and win the game but it could have gone either way but for great saves by both keepers. A thoroughly enjoyable game.
