I may have missed something but Stephan's assistant, Alou Diarra, seems almost surplus to requirements. I don't think we've ever heard from him, he doesn't feature in training vids and during games, Stephan never seems to consult with him but rather speaks with either Kevin Betsy or Cuni, the data analyst.

Said exactly this in yesterday’s match thread. He just sits on his backside. I hope he’s more use on the training pitch than he is to the team and he seems not to offer any help to the manager on match days at all. There’s a balance to be struck of course but he seems like a non entity pitch side. | |

I was just about to post that Kone is IMO the biggest example I have seen of quality coaching improving a players all round game .
When he came I thought he was just a trundling centre forward from the lower leagues who had scored a few and caught a break into a bigger club .
Over this season his touch has improved , his hold up game has improved , his targeted physicality (sp?) has improved , he has improvised some neat finishes and leaves every defender he plays against knowing they have been in a game . Despite being flogged to death he has stayed fit and available . If Diarra is working quietly doing all that then carry on mate .. I much prefer that approach to the Bould video which I found a bit cringy and questionable considering the amount we have conceded over the season .. [Post edited 7 Apr 13:41]

I think that video of Bould might have been from his first week. He was probably still learning names/personalities etc...
I thought he came across very well, and from what I could tell the session was focussed on getting the ball forward quickly, which was refreshing compared to Marti's style of switching around the back four until something opens up | | | |

I agree with this, some coaches soak in the game during a match and their work is on the training ground and with the players in private so hard to know but trust Alou is an important part of the back room team. Sometimes it’s the quiet ones you have to watch! |  | | |
