Assuming we can keep RND we will have him and Larkeche for lb. We will have more strikers than you can shake a stick at , plenty of mid fielders and well covered in central defence even if Cook departs. This only leaves uncertainties in the goalkeeper position.

Answer to the OP.......you have to improve your Team every season to progress and we need to strengthen the first team 100%. What positions is open to much discussion indeed, as indicated on this thread, but No1 has to be a LB. | | | |

Not sure 'promising youngsters' would be the answer......we need to be signing players who will be played as a 'first teamer' not a squad player from the Development Squad.
I should also add that I am not overkeen on sending players out on loan to 'crappy' non league teams......basic should be league standard. [Post edited 10 Apr 13:56]

Our budget will dictate this, as it has been for the last decade.
I'm with you though, our development of promising youngsters hasn't been to the standard necessary to compete at the top end of this league. You need proven championship quality players in all positions for this league. |  |

There’s a balance to be struck with loans; too high a level would probably means very limited minutes on the pitch which doesn’t help anyone. Too low a level and a player won’t develop. One loan that stands out for me as being an example of the latter is Jack McDowell at Bracknell. In my opinion he’s far too good for that level, even aged 20. | |

If they are not good enough to play for, the very minimum, a National League team on a regular basis then they are 'miles' off playing anywhere near the QPR first team and not only that I fail to see what they are learning from playing for Bracknell Town in a very low non league set in front of 500 fans some weeks. If he is 20 years old he should be learning his trade at QPR not Bracknell Town a mid table Club, it just isn't comparable.
On what grounds do you think that he is 'far too good' ......have you watched him train, have you seen him play on a regular basis, have you spoken to him, etc, etc, etc!!!! [Post edited 10 Apr 15:08]

One can clearly see the development, already, in Morgan, Vale, Kolli and Kone. Bennie probably isn't getting enough game time, as yet. | |

A rather pointy, in your face, response Gazza! Centre backs tend to take a bit longer to ripen. As I’ve previously stated on here, at the same age Jimmy Dunne was on loan at Barrow who were in the Northern Conference at the time. He’s gone on to do alright for himself.
Admittedly I’ve not seen as much of McDowell as I would like. What I have seen makes me think he’s too good for Bracknell Town. Who on here gets to speak to players about their performance and development!?!

The thing is that we have scatter-gunned our academy with a huge number of youngsters and the club will have you believe that they're all ready to step up. They are not.
Kolli and Morgan finally look to be getting some minutes and will, undoubtedly benefit, but Kolli has been first team "ready" for about three years according to the club (he hasn't until this season though...) and we lucked out on Morgan last year (or the club scouted him really well) although he is only starting to find his feet...
But other than that, who has come close?
They want to tout Smith, but like Akideleni, their path IS blocked as we're quite well off at CB. Other than that, there are no GKs, no full backs or no strikers that appear to be anywhere near ready and have we got any central midfielders coming through? Pearman maybe, but he looks at least a couple of years' away.
I would love to believe that we have turned it round and maybe getting Cat 1 will help, but it does not feel ready to be a conveyor belt just yet.
So, to the OP, not a lot of change needed IF WE KEEP THE FIRST XI FIT! Otherwise we are weak in GK, RB, LB and CM. If Cook and Hayden go, we'll need to replace their experience - any chance Brannigan and Ogilve would come here if their teams went down? |  |
