I saw an episode of Law and Order Criminal Intent the other day. It was a later series when Vincent D'onofrio wasn't doing every episode. The lead detective? Jeff Goldblum. Overacting, trying to take the limelight from the collective.
What are the worst examples of miscasting that stand out to you from film and TV?
Kevin Costner in literally any film he's been in ever... wait, was he in the untouchables? I might have to revise my criticism, I love that film
I love The Untouchables too, but Costner was bad in it. I'm not great at judging actors but I can spot a bad one and some of his "acting" was dreadful.
Keira Knightley as an LA bounty hunter in Domino. Didn’t help that the story was completely incomprehensible.
TBF if you're casting Kiera Knightley as anything other than a posh lass from Richmond-upon-Thames you're going to be struggling. That Pirates of the Caribbean franchise was an absolute festival of sht.

Something I recently discovered from watching RedLetterMedia rank Sam Raimi's pictures is that in For The Love of the Game (1999), Kevin Costner had a full frontal shower scene (it's a gentle baseball based rom com for context) that was taken out cos test audiences hated it, and apparently he's was fuming with the studio and spoke about not doing any more pictures for them lol

Or the spanish guy in highlander with a scottish accent. For me though tommy lee jones playing an ira terrorist in blown away tops everything. The accent was so bad
But if you take Sean Connery out of Highlander it would be a far worse film. The fact that the only Scottish actor in it is playing a S̶p̶a̶n̶i̶a̶r̶d̶ Egyptian is part of its charm. Besides the only impersonation I can do is him saying "I am Juan Sánchez Villalobos Ramírez, chief metallurgist to King Charles the 5th of Spain and I'm at your service."
Right then, hope I don't upset anyone slating off these 2 very popular actors......
Bruce Willis is pretty crap in anything that involves him doing much more than grunting & running away from explosions in a vest. Some films that would be much better if they had someone who could actually act instead of Bruce Willis..... Twelve Monkeys, The Fifth Element, the parts of Pulp Fiction with Bruce Willis in.
See also Tom Cruise, the Marc Nygaard of Hollywood. Yes he has a couple of things that he can do very well but his overall game is at a pretty low standard. For example Minority Report is a good film. It could be a really great one if it had a decent actor in the main role.

I thought Willis was great in 12 Monkeys.
I really like Eastern Promises - Viggo Mortensen is excellent - but Naomi Watts? Not good.
