The good news is rail seating will be expanded. It's going in Y at the end of the Stan Bowles (where everybody stands already) although not in QU and PU (where everybody also stands already).

"Pricing for the newly-installed rail seating area in Y Block will mirror the pricing of R Block and The GO-OUT Loft Stand Lower. The first four rows that are not rail seating will not mirror rail-seating prices."
No figures included there but if I'm reading last year's prices right, and I'm happy to hold my hands up if I'm not, a renewal in Y last summer was £262 and a renewal in the rail seating was £541. Pretty steepling increase that, especially if you've only got a couple of paydays to find it...

It should be noted that there are some less well off supporters that are only in Y block as its all they can afford , until i got my pension last year i was living on £7.5k a year & the blue catergory pricing meant that my luxury was to travel down from Norfolk for every home game.
Even though i can now afford the new price some around me in Y are paying upwards of 2k rent a month & will struggle to renew , a price increase of over double last seasons total (ie 100% would be £524 & it's now £541) is bad enough but it's the pure deception of how they got what they see as "Turkeys voting for christmas" unless its an innocent mistake from the club .
For the record i voted in the survey to put it anywhere but Y & thought it's a similar thing as when they sent free seat Pete in Q block to create some atmosphere , it was already lively in Q P & R blocks so they send a drum in , now they claim it will improve the atmospere in Y , erm.... already noisy in there chaps ! |
Just some back of a fag packet maths here, but an extra £250 x 300 seats works out at £75,000 in increased revenue. Does the club really want to pee off a couple of hundred fans and create further ill will amongst the rest of us, for the equivalent of one month's wages for one player? They're crazy if they think that's a good trade off. |  | | |

Does the club really want to pee off a couple of hundred fans and create further ill will amongst the rest of us, for the equivalent of one month's wages for one player? They're crazy if they think that's a good trade off. |

If they lose STs and have Y half empty because they can’t attract people to stand there because of the price (you could stand in Q or Pu for the same price…), and it sounds like that block’s pricing was playing an important role in enabling some lower income fans to attend, when otherwise they would not be able to. Those fans may not be able to attend much anymore. So the business case may not, when looked back on after a season, stack up, especially when you count it against the capex spent to implement the rail seating.
Q and Pu were the obvious locations to do it. They aren’t regularly sold out today, and almost certainly would be after this, and fans located there wouldn’t be seeing an uplift. If you left Y block as it was, you wouldn’t lose any fans and enable low income fans to attend still.
I’m sure the specific business case on a spreadsheet didn’t look as good as they probably calculated they had 75% sell rate on seats in Q and Pu today at the existing Silver rate, so the uplift would be limited, whereas 2x on the seat price in Y would deliver more. But they may have misunderstood some of the nuance, not to mention fan sentiment. |  | | |

It is if, as they claim, they have a waiting list for season tickets. Supply and demand.
Those tickets will still be cheaper than those other clubs around us, and you can stand. Plus the vast majority of youngsters, who love the safe standing, live at home so have disposable income (mine bloody do).

since the boy wonder has arrived , when has he read the room , costs going up all over the place fuel heating food you name it , hey lets double the price of affordable seats for many. do wonder what the over price raises will be for other areas though ? they have been resonable small increases in recent seasons , if they are looking to double these safe stadning prices it could be a nasty supprise for most of us. |

As usual they're happy to put strain on those of us that have been staunchly supporting the club, even amongst the mostly terrible last few years. Our reward is to be squeezed further so they can make an amount that covers the wage of a new performance coach, or a few weeks of 1 players wages. |  |

That makes more sense to me.
I'm in the PL standing bit which was always half empty (or worse) as the family stand but which is now almost always pretty much sold out when I try to get tickets for family and friends. |  |

Be a real shame if they change the Blue Y to silver. It's been a massive success for the club and I know a couple of lads who go there because of its affordability and they won't be able to go with the price increase.

same as whe the family stand started they didnt even warn people before the season ended , sorry know u have sat here for the last 15 or so years but we want families to sit here from next season , people who sat with each other were turfed out with zero notice lots havent come back since.
