The way they are financially, having already borrowed against their next parachute payment and with their wage bill as astronomically high as it is and will be in the third division, the only Dunne they'll sign, is Clive Dunn. Even then, I think it more realistic to suggest they're more likely to be well and truly 'done in!'

That did not look like a player ready to hang up his boots, he is going to play as long as he can, even if he has injections before every match to get him through it.
I'd have liked to see if the club could keep him around, as I reckon he is well settled to the area, with his kids loving Fulham etc. Not too many other teams in the area at the same level for him to move to? Maybe he could do a season at Spurs in the Champ, he'd be the cheapest player on their books!
On the point of Cook being well settled to the area I don't know how he managed the situation but when I did my training ground tour the guy running the tour said Steve would drive home to the Bournemouth area after training, sounds like he did a lot of driving.
Born to be a dad, quite clearly is Steve. You have got to possess a lot of hidden qualities to be a great dad, and from this video its clear Cookie has them in spades.
Personally, I would have offered him the youth coaching role in conjunction with a playing contract on reduced wages overall. The man clearly could well be a future head coach in the making, but completely understand himself wanting to play for as long as is possible, and at whatever level, as the guy clearly loves the game.
If I was Christian Nourry, the fact he is going elsewhere to play, I would have got him to sign a contract offering him a coaching role, immediately when he decides not to play. Otherwise, I can see this being Bournemouth's gain, not ours.
But for me this video highlights his character and his bond with his boys and it is the ability to bond with a team of very different characters that has done him well as captain. Hope one day down the line, we could see Cookie back here as head coach / manager, maybe with his two sons as the twin strike force up top....
