Dunne and Dickie never hid, though, imo. They tried their hardest for the team, and for the club. No comparison to Madsen's 2024-25 season, imho.
I'll back anyone who's trying his hardest and not shirking, same as I backed Madsen this season by voting for him for POTY.
I think Madsen, by his own admission, found it very hard in his first season, adjusting to a new country and a much higher level of football. Who wouldn't? I don't thing it"s right to say that he was shirking, that goes to the man's character. He's human like the rest of us - no one's trying to "canonise" him.

I brought up both seasons only because it was suggested that he was management material and I think we'd have to see more of the improved Madsen before deciding that.
He rightly got credit and praise for the last few games of last season, and is POTY this season, but the whole body of work is relevant.
More wrong stuff, absolute nonsense......management material!!!!. What next is going to be written about Madsen.

I wouldn't canonise the man yet. Only last season he went games in a row without putting in a single tackle.
He was complete pony last year and has redeemed himself his season.
Let’s have a long hard look at it next year after the three year crop rotation effect and what he’s worth it we can sell the bugger for more than we paid.

So much to like about this interview .
If anything he can be too self critical but he is humble but clearly passionate in his own quiet way. Grown as not just a player but as a human being I think in the last 12 months. If we don’t cash in this summer , build the team around him and his qualities .

The transformation this season has been like chalk and cheese.
No reasons to suggest, he can't maintain his form.
Its not spoken about much on here, but a young man last season in a country not of his birth and London can be a lonely place, if you lacking in confidence and a feeling of belonging and friends you can confide in.
Again, I think Jimmy with his leadership qualities, on and off the pitch, recognising its important to be mates with your teammates and setting up the coffee group club, that several of our players attend outside of the club, could have been key in Madsen feeling more settled outside of the club, and thus his performances likewise have improved.
Am sure anyone who has moved to a new location for work, where they know not a soul, can appreciate that sometimes this can have a negative effect on your work performance. Ie being unsettled in your personal life can impact on work.
And yes, thats what footballers experience all the time and yes they do get paid incredible sums to compensate, but they still young guys trying to constantly adapt and perform, so the players socials, am sure can go a long way, especially for those that need this extra help. Gone are the days where they all bonded over a pint or seven, so its the coffee shops for these guys, but its as important now, as it ever was. Just different.
I am sure most on here, work better, if they like and occasionally socialise with their colleagues and football is a team game and you have to trust your team mates to be on your side.
Maybe ask Kevin de Bruyne about Thibaut Courtois or Wayne Bridge about John Terry. Possibly not the two best examples of team bonding and share and share alike there.....
But we all like a success story and Nico has certainly been that, this season.

I was telling fans on Saturday, that QPR have missed Colback this season. I would have preferred to have kept him and not signed Hayden. His passing and shooting have definitely been missed, although not his yellow cards for silly fouls.

Not saying Colback did not have issues, he did, but when he played posters should watch him and his passing, movement, support, help and general football talents. He was decent when he played and an asset to the team, hence why he got picked frequently by the Management Team.
Sadly posters did not notice his ability at playing football and his good work on the pitch and focused on his errors........they got it wrong again like they did with Madsen and preferred Hayden who is so limited but now see Haydens to see his limits despite them being there all the time. Hayden should never had been signed and we see his worth now.

Two possibilities; to pad out the player availability stats, and to show would-be purchasers that he's recovered from his injury. Same goes for Chair and Burrell.
