It was a gruelling watch for sure. 6 minutes added to each half, you could easily triple that. The ball was dead or out of play for huge great stretches of the game. Watch back how long it was from the award of the penalty to the game kicking off again. |  | | |

I'm not sure this is a modern football thing, this has always happened. Leeds in the 70's, Wimbledon in the 80's and 90's, Arsenal under George Graham. Mourinhios teams over the last 20 years, Athletico Madrid, loadsof teams have always played this way to try and bridge the gap to teams with better more skilful players. |  | | |

what i dont get is why wasnt arsenals' penalty claim reviewed by var? if it was at the other end it would be given. also psg dived, went down so easy often holding their face or throat from the most minor flick.
it is cheating, but refs are useless .
why have var if it aint used? the ref made a 150m pound decision in favour of psg! oh well the oil barons are happy , costs are up and a new egg cup | | | |

Good post here daveB but Arsenal have pretty much the same talent as PSG and more off the bench so there was no need for all that negative park the bus rubbish IMO.
I was hoping PSG would score first then it would be way more exciting but Arsenal got a pretty fluky break and scored a superb goal then went backwards all night .
PSG lost some World class player in the 90 minutes and extra time yet Arsenal did not even try and squeeze them upfield when it looked like they had the horses to find a winner.
PKs are always a toss up our ex keeper Rob Green had some excellent nuggets of info telling us which shooter changed sides from their normal spots and sure enough most scored |  | | |

Agree Dave, but all of the clubs are cheating now
Look at Rayo the other night against Palace they were feigning injury every time a tackle was made
It was the same last night all of the PSG players were screaming in pain and then 20 seconds later were back on their feet
My biggest bug bear now is when a free kick or a cross goes in and the defender who is defending the goal falls to the floor and the ref automatically gives a free kick
You get the odd game which is brilliant but I’m done with VAR , I’m done with the rolling around and I’m done with most of the managers jumping up and down like they have a wasp up their arris |  |

I only wanted Arsenal to win so there would be another London club to have won it but I really do detest the win-at-any-cost-results-business-anti-football that was particularly prevalent under Mourhino at Chelsea.
23% possession and one shot are target is really not that good. It’s not as though they are a bad team and having to defend against the odds, they choose to do that. |  | | |

Let’s not forget Arsenal’s corner routines all season. The amount of fouling they do that goes unchecked is unbelievable especially Rice when defending corners where he frequently hauls his man to the ground. | |

I don't think they have anything like the talent that PSG have, they are an unreal side going forward. If you go toe to toe with them they will likely beat you as they did to Bayern in the semi final.
When it got to 1-1 Arsenal pushed forward a bit more and should have conceded at least twice to counter attacks so it was hard to find that balance. It was very fine margins, if they managed to win on penalties people would be raving about how they played. [Post edited 31 May 18:58]

Agree in principle but all possession isnt created equal. It's just as boring watching PSG pass it around their back 3, forward a bit then immediately right back to the centre back and start again. They must have had 90% of the possession in extra time and I'm not sure they went anywhere near the arsenal box or even tried to |  | | |

Eze's penalty was absolute crap. The run up, stop, start, stop again, start again, stop, kick, miss the target by a country mile.
Just run up and kick the bloody ball.
I see all that nonsense footballers do when taking pens, as a form of cheating, and the authorities should clamp down on it.
Can you imagine if Eze had played under Brian Clough, and took a penalty like that?

Fair enough on the strength of PSG starting 11 there Dave but Arsenal brought on some serious talent in Eze ,Martinelli,Timber,Gyokeres,Mandueke and Zumendi while PSG brought in Barcola,Zaire-Emery,Ramos and 2 others replacing Dembele,Vitinha and Kavratskhelia who beat BM on their own but had to leave here .
Once this happened PSG were vunerable IMO but as usual Arteta did not push on IMO.
Great point by a poster above on Rice during corners that he does not take rugby style tackles (see West Ham just horrible gamesmenship )its no wonder they score 21 or whatever all year | | | |

If they rolling around in agony and then minutes are wasted but somehow they manage to sprint off afterwards automatic yellow card.
Would stop unneccessary stoppages where a player is clearly thought to have been play acting and wasting time and add minimum two minutes for these kind of stoppages.

I was backing Arsenal but PSG deserved to win.
Been mentioned elsewhere on the interweb but the game was very similar to the Euro 2020 final; score early (too early?) then try and hang on to a one goal lead rather than score a second. Inevitable equaliser, tedious extra time, lose on penalties. |  |
