I think if France had started with their best XI then I don’t think we’d have raced into a 4 goal lead to potentially throw away. I think France would have won it from the off.
However, you can only play who is in front of you and we took advantage and that first half effectively won us the game, that’s to be applauded.
These 3rd place games are usually dull affairs but last night was just brilliant. Both teams going full pelt attacking, very few fouls and no dark arts. Argentina are a good team but their behaviour makes them very unlikeable but they do it because they’re allowed to get away with it. Tonight will be interesting. |  | | |

Yes, to many it's pointless with a minor financial reward.
But to most of the 'squad' players who hadn't played, but got a game last night, I'm sure was it was worthwhile. It might be their only chance to play for England in a World Cup game (bar qualifiers).
So it great for them, their CV and probably ups their worth.
Plus, Eze can say he's won a World Cup medal, so I'm pleased for him.
