The thing that always amazes me about these write ups is the amount of players that leave Championship teams for free or are released. How this division survives financially is a mystery to me, no one ever seems to recoup any money

Stoke ALWAYS spend money; it's always a delight to see them move from expectation to hope to realisation that 11-15 is their home.
I had Swansea, Stoke, WBA in exactly the same positions as Clive. And similar for Derby, Stoke. So far, my only outlier is Millwall, who I expect to have a bit of a playoff hangover.

I spied exactly this.
The "In's" section for most teams showed Player X £YMill and the "Outs" plenty of free, released, loans and not many balancing Fee's other than Galbraith.
Do need to keep in mind that a player costing seven figures plus doesn't equal success I suppose / hope. Also, signings often need a bedding in period.... maybe we're actually haead of our closest rivals? Can't make my mind up.
These pieces are brilliant insight into other clubs and interspersed with some absolute brahma one liners. Thanks.

You make a really good point. A lot of apparently average clubs have spent £12m or more on headline transfers alone this window, way, way more than us this summer btw, albeit we had spent big for us in recent windows. I have been concerned that we haven’t reeled in that big sale yet. But the vast majority of these clubs aren’t really doing so either if this preview is an accurate guide (and am sure it is). Clubs like Middlesbrough seem to be the exception, not the rule. I guess it’s why loosing 40m odd over 3 years is almost taken for granted in this league….
