There are two kinds of fans in the extreme. Bedwetter who do indeed panic about everything and see negative in everything and on the opposite side of things there is the fan who thinks he is better than everyone else as he sees everything as great and positive (even though usually it is just an act).
Me and most will be in the middle and 100% there is clearly at this time something not right with the team and play. It is not about it being one or two games (which will be seen when we play Millwall), but more about the way we play and lose. Head are down. And we are going back to folding too easily.
Remember we did not play the WH relegated last night, we played their 2nd 3rd string. I personally believe there is unrest and many want to leave as they wanted PL footie and perhaps are causing some harmony issues in the dressing room with their moods. This is usually the case. Best let them go and play people who care and want to try else we are at stage two of becoming a standard EFL team. |  | | |

One thing that stood out from last night was the lack of leadership. When your Captain is at fault for goals and is the worst player on the pitch we have a problem. We also need a physical midfield battler who bawls the team out and leads by example. Bragg and co are not physical enough.

When he is the ‘experienced’ head at the back we are so slow and ponderous and open to endless errors

If you take 3 of the best players out of any team they will struggle, especially if they are the spine of it
Not only do we miss THB's defensive ability but also his passing range, I lost count of the amount of times we lost possession on Saturday with either Stephens or Wood passing out from the back
Matsuki is not a central midfielder, on Saturday he was overpowered and Stoke had control of the midfield. We were asking Downes to do the work of two players and that's just not possible
Whilst I didn't see the game last night, only saw some of the highlights on the tv and the problems were the same
I would hope that we will bring in at least 2 replacements, 3 if Jander leaves, for the players who've left and hopefully they will solve the issues we now have |  |

Read between the lines Matt. Does it not worry you at all that a team that beat Arsenal and didn't lose in 25 games, suddenly loses 2 in 3, look all over the place, arn't motivated like they were, the defence suddenly looks a shambles, our best defender who is still our player can't play and is about to leave. We have just had a massive scandal. Do you not worry it's possible that this cloud has / is affecting the club? You can't just pretend everything is fine when it isn't. People have eyes and can see the mess on the pitch. It's not just a few defeats. It's the manner of them and the sudden change in the attitude of the players that is worrying. People who care about this club arn't always smiley and happy. They are entitled to worry, to feel angry when we get thrashed on our own pitch. I care deeply about my children, but I am not always smiley and happy with them if they do wrong. Support isn't just about saying well done come what may, if it isn't deserved. It was a terrible perfprmance tonight, tell the truth and tell it how it how it is. Millwall is a big game Saturday. They are a really good side in this league. Let’s see what happens for the remainder of the transfer window . Solak said we’ll have a team to be proud of he didn’t say we’ll have a team to be proud of with a week left of the window. We do have a lot of fans on here who rant and rave after 2/3 defeats but don’t give much praise when we go on a 20 game unbeaten run all very strange. In a weeks time if we’ve lost all our stars then time to criticise but we may keep them and find a few gems and we won’t know if they’re gems until a few games in but no doubt some of our fans will be slagging them off after one game if they don’t perform . Patience ffs.
I trust Spors to get it right because I think we all know if we don’t go up this season we could become a championship team for a very long time . [Post edited 26 Aug 8:53]

If you're referring to me Jo I think you're missing the point. I don't see everything as great and positive I just don't think it is realistic to make any judgements after two league games
There were a lot of doom and gloom merchants on here getting their knickers in a twist after the opening day defeat and carrying it on after the Stoke game
We are two league games in out of 46 and we've won one and lost one. Okay we haven't played the type of football we played last season but I reiterate we're only two games in. There is clearly going to be some transfer activity between now and the end of the window for us and every team
At this stage last season Stoke were top, Bristol City were third and Ipswich were 16th with two points from two games. Ipswich got automatic promotion, Bristol City finished 12th and Stoke finished 17th at the end of the season.
It's ridiculous to say because I haven't posted what you personally think that I think I'm better than everyone else
If we're a couple of months in and way off the pace or if we don't get the right personnel in than I'll be as unhappy as anyone else. What I'm saying is it's too early to judge after two games and a transfer window still open. | | | |

Last night was a superb performance, agreed. First time that we looked extremely fit, and accomplished. Tonda got it right though by keeping the best players on the pitch. As Sciensa showed with his late goal, just keep him on the pitch rather than bringing on players that arn't as good. Would rather a "tired" Sciensa and Larin than players that arn't as good.
Criticism and pressure can be good. Flynn asked players to step up, said he was fuming, fans wanted more. Tonda was criticised for the subs, which only resulted in him learning and changing tac. That "negativity" isn't slways negative! Pressure and expectation can motivate! It's okay to place demands on a big club like Saints to achieve what it should.
I agree too that the table is looking promising. Another home win needed Saturday, if so we are right in the mix. I want top 2. We have to go for it. Just when this team finds its mojo, I dam well hope the FA don't ruin it all. | |

Agree with that Southamptonfan. I suppose we've got to protect Leo and Larin (particularly Larin) so I can understand subbing them
Saturday is going to be another tough game for sure as Bristol City are flying as well and better away this season so far. A win against them would be a massive confidence boost.
