The US economy is huge and can soak up a lot more than we can, their economy is growing, unemployment is not an issue their and they have a low welfare structure.
It's similar to personal earnings, if you earn £2000 a month a £500 a month shock will hit you very hard, if you earn £10000 a month you may be able to ride a £1000 shock.
Food and fuel prices are going to hit our economy very hard this winter. The US on the other hand is more self sufficient in both respects.
We are that £2000 a month person about to get hit hard, so we can't borrow any more because we are comparative bad risk, the worst in the G7; according to the bond markets. We have to grow our income to improve our financial position and not spend any more because our costs are already going up. | |

The UK economy is 4.26 trillion and our debt is 3.017 trillion. The USa economy is worth 32.38 trillion but it's debt is over 38 trillion. I'm not so sure they can ride the coming bumps that well. Trump and Canada are at loggerheads, he's spending a fortune attacking Iran and now he wants to spend another trillion lus to bribe US voters?

He did not say if it was taxable. Probably had not thought about it. That will be the first pull back. Non taxpayers will do better than taxpayers. The guys in the hood will be delighted at that.
I like to quantify the debt and deficit in terms of the population as a whole person head. This includes everyone including non taxpayers like children and OAPs.

USA debt. $36,000,000 million Pop. 350m Individual debt. $103,000. (£79,000)
