Why are we not threatening to appeal any potential sanction the FA may impose on us?
We are being all nicey, nicey. The mantra is "please don't punish us", rather than going on the offensive.
The interview tomorrow by Parsons will be the final straw. The extracts I have heard already show him to be completely out of his depth.
Christ knows why he is still in his highly-paid position.

In my opinion, to supposedly save money legal representation wise, we took a water pistol to a gun fight with the E F L , lost control of the media narrative and subsequently got kicked out of the playoffs.

All along over the last 3 months, Adam Blackmore said the Club would appeal any sanction that the FA may impose if it was felt by the Club to be overly harsh.
That is definitely not the stance now.
Parsons isn't ruling out getting another manager in if we have to.

He is not being confrontational towards the panel,
"We will decide that when we get to it. You hear rumours of what people think and what could happen, but we're hoping [the panel] look at it sensibly.
"We don't want to be seen as a victim of this. We need to get on. We've had our cards dealt. It will be really tough to take if we get another punishment.
"On top of being thrown out of the play-offs, we've had four points this season, so we're hoping the panel are looking at this with a balanced view.
"It's already been really heavy. Tonda's a young manager. He's made a mistake, and he's paid for that dearly. This has been really tough for him.
"I admire how strong he's been through this process because a lot of people could have cracked under the amount of pressure he was under.
"I also think that without him and his team, we wouldn't have been in the play-off position. I think that deserves a bit of loyalty.

I'm pretty sure that the Club are properly lawyered up now. It's never a good idea to disrespect a court or tribunal before they've made their decision. And if our argument is that we have been punished enough, we will have made our case as well as we can, I am sure.
At the end of the day once all the evidence including our representations have been heard, Steve Gibson will make his decision and we will just have to accept it. |  |

By all means correct me if I’m wrong Nick, but initially didn’t we engage the services of a well known and respected brief only after the E F L verdict had been handed down, and we wanted to appeal the same ?
My opinion at the time, and still is, that the Club’s management thought that if they adopted a softly softly approach, didn’t contest the media narrative and relied on the old pals act at director level then not only would they save money in proper legal representation, but the punishment would not result in exclusion from the playoffs.
How wrong they were.
Hopefully, in regard to the F A they haven’t or won’t make the same mistakes and once again try and take a water pistol to a gun fight. [Post edited 22 Sep 11:52]

Exactly mush, Biesla wasn't punished because there was no rule to break and no punishment to give.
Tonday/Saints got punished because we broke the rules, we were the first case of it so the punishment was new as it hadn't been tested before.
You could probably argue that it should've been sorted in the summer as this timeline is ridiculous, but then you can also argue that's on the club for sticking with Tonda knowing full well he'll be punished during the season by the FA.
Do i think the punishment so far has been over the top? Personally yes, because it didn't really give us an advantage, and has largely been inflated by media hype.
Can i argue the punishment is unfair? No, because there's no precedent so no comparison, and this is the decision which sets a baseline.
Saints fans squinnying about it achieves f*ck all really and given we all know and accept the club and Tonda have broken the rules we should probably just accept the decision. | | | |

That’s what legal precedents are. Saints could refer to the Chelsea case as a legal precedent where, on appeal to the FA, an original penalty was lifted. The FA will argue that spying and financial irregularities are different but lawyers for Saints could argue the principles are the same and that punishing Tonda is in effect adding further penalties on the club. | |
