Perhaps the most encouraging thing so far 13:52 - Oct 11 with 776 viewsDr_Winston

Is that I still don't think we've played to anything like 100% of our ability for more than a few relatively short spells here and there. The first 20 against Watford. Just after half time against Lincoln and yesterday.

For the most part (with the possible exception of Derby) we're grinding out wins rather than sealing them at a canter, which makes you wonder just how good we can potentially be if/when everything clicks.

The games we've won we've been the better side in, but I still think we've got levels in us that we've barely seen so far.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

Ive been saying this since before the Lincoln game.

We are going to click soon and it wont be for just the 10 min spells here and there.

Someone is going to get a shoeing soon and I really hope it is next sat as me and the eldest are down for the weekend.

I think that applies to every team. Momentum swings in games and both sides have their moments. The good news for us is that we are not conceding when the other team are in the ascendency, other than Southampton. We must note that Southampton would be 3rd in the table without the points deduction and are a high quality side.
I think Watford is the game where we won at a canter, rather than grinding it out. It's the Swansea way to grind things out and we don't often click for 90 minutes to win 4-0 or 5-0. Swans fans have the shortest fingernails in football. Fact! (OK, made up)
The next 3 games will tell us where we are at. Millwall just had their first win in 4 games and they really grind things out. They've had to with their injury list. I am so looking forward to Josh Tymon v Bowen next Saturday. Already sold out I believe. Then it's QPR away. Could we click then and win 5-0? It's been done before!

We’ve got real terriers in the side now who will harass opposition players aggressively trying to force turnovers. We have goals throughout the side and it’s just a matter of time before Widdell and Stamenic start scoring plus the luxury of Ross Stewart on the bench. The players now are playing more and more in tune with one another and there seems to be more to come. A great time to be a Swans fan.

We'll have peaks and troughs but the best teams don't just win when they're playing well, they a;so grind results out when they're poor. We've done that a few times so it is encouraging. It'd be great if we hit a peak the next 2 weeks and won all 3!

But, as I just said elsewhere, it might be better to just take it one game at a time.

I don’t think those 10 minute spells are sustainable over 90, just because they are so intense. We are going to need to do that for short spells, then manage the game for a bit before going again.

I do agree though, someone is taking a hammering soon. We are pretty good at limiting the opposition when we aren’t going full tilt. If we could get three or four spells like that in each game, we would blow teams away.

First rule is to be hard to beat. Southampton aside I think we've managed this well, and to be honest I think we were mostly our own worst enemies in that one.

Key for me will be the games against teams that try to shut up shop against us. Our struggles breaking down packed defences has already arguably cost us four points at home.

This is the under rated side of our game that the TikTok experts never seem to mention.

We’re not always on top, but when we aren’t, we’re conceding possession and territory, but rarely conceding big chances. We control those periods very well.

Three times we've come back to win after conceding first. Twice 1 down at half time. That to me shows there's good resiiience in the team. Heads don't appear to drop like they used to. That has to be down VM. I imagine most were of us were calling/expecting changes at half time. VM did not change anyone before 60 mins and the players on the pitch turned it around. So it looked like he had faith in the X1 on the pitch. That shows good management and VM believing in his squad. Can we go the extra mile. Let's hope so.
