| 5 Things About The QPR Game 09:36 - Nov 2 with 1136 views | SaintNick | 1. Good to see am almost packed St Mary's, just about the only section with empty seats was the two blocks in the Chapel next to the away fans, although the little group at the back seems to be growing. 2. What was the little skirmish about in the Chapel when the police were ejecting a fan , had Pat From Poole finally snapped and launched a solo attack across the barrier. 3. I actually thought the atmosphere was ok on Saturday, not up there with the Pompey game, but decent. 4. What was QPR's kit all about, it looked like either they were wearing their home shirts inside out or they had put them in the washing machine with some red & blue shirts. 5. Couldn't hear the QPR fans from where I sit, so can't tell whether they were good or bad in terms of support | |

| 5 Things About The QPR Game on 09:45 - Nov 2 with 1072 views | franniesTache | The skirmish was one of the family stand who decided to have a conversation with the away fans about their manners 1. Saints are a good team, i can't remember a saints side this consistent in a long time and i'm starting to think we've got a shot at winning the league 2. The minutes silence was a complete sh*t show, no idea why so many people can't listen to or understand basic instructions 3. Town pre game was heaving, don't know if it was the football, the ships or early xmas shoppers but i've not seen it that busy in a long time 4. QPR's support has to be strangest bunch i've seen at St Mary's in a long time, they went through the lower league song book quicker than Pat goes through the saints one, engaged in absolute pantomime anger, and one mush with a flat cap looked one more line off a heart attack in the away end. Really summed up how two bit modern support is to be honest, and i was surprised given QPR are usually one of the better london clubs 5. Going to games right now, especially at home, is fun again, we're scoring a lot of goals, playing great football and level one is a quality addition (who doesn't love a half time double brandy) | | | |
| 5 Things About The QPR Game on 10:07 - Nov 2 with 985 views | Southamptonfan | 1) Really enjoying my football at the moment and buzzing about Saints, looking forward to every game. The football is exciting, attacking, goals galore and Saints are dam intense on the pitch at times. Brilliant entertainment with sublime football. I am also dreaming of, and feel it is a real possibility that we can win the league. 2) Some mention of players. Peretz wins us points. Having a good goalkeeper is.so vital. His saves at West Ham.last week, won us the points. And Bragg, what a potential star he is. He was superb on Saturday. 3) The fanzones and selections of drinks are very good. 4) Tonda is an intense, clever, tactically astute man who has brought this city together. With everything that has gone on, I don't think I have ever wanted a manager of Saints to succeed as much as this guy and am.fully behind him 100 per cent. It's a long time since I have been able to say that. 5) The atmosphere is good. It isn't always going to reach.the levels of the derby game, but it's buzzing, positive and good. Middlesbrough at home will be one hell of an atmosphere and have plans with others to get to Southampton well before kick off that day. We have had some incredible moments of celebration under Tonda. Beating Boro at home could see fireworks that night. [Post edited 2 Nov 10:10]

| 5 Things About The QPR Game on 10:23 - Nov 2 with 939 views | PatfromPoole | If and when the Club decide to close blocks 20 and 21 of the Family Stand, and some on here bleat on about it being due to JCL's (or septic tanks or whatever the buzz phrase of the week is) having moved over from other parts of the ground, the incident on Saturday had nothing to do with anybody I know. And it wasn't "yoof" types either. I'm sure Parsons is keeping a log. [Post edited 2 Nov 10:24]

I think it's unlikely they'll close block 21/20 to be honest, it's half empty most games and a single isolated issue isn't going to make them do it. Personally i think the balance is spot on right now, you have the northam for the people that like singing liverpool songs and the old man corner in the chapel for those that like a laugh and watching the game.
| 5 Things About The QPR Game on 10:40 - Nov 2 with 878 views | dirk_doone | Following Nick's numbers, except for 4 as I have no comment on the QPR kit: 1. >30,000 again. I wonder what the real capacity is now i.e. the number of seats that are available for sale. When they publish those league tables with the percentage of capacities sold for each team, they use our old official capacity figure, which was >32,500. There's no way that number is still available. 2. It was only one enthusiastic Saints' fan being ejected from the Chapel, who I'd guess had had a pre-match drink or two, but the amount of security involved made it seem like there was a massive brawl breaking out. 3. The atmosphere at St Mary's nowadays is really positive. Having a proper home end in the Northam and hiding the away fans away in a corner has had the desired effect. We now have a rep for our home support, and our results reflect it. It's Fortress St Mary's. Credit to the much-maligned Parsons for getting it done. 4. The spirit at the Club is the best I can recall since the late 70s/early 80s. Even 2015/16, it wasn't as good as now. We expect to beat everybody and we usually do. If we're ever going to win another major trophy, it's going to be with Tonda. Credit to Sport Republic and Spors too. 5. The QPR fans sang the 'Library' and 'Your support' songs in the 1st half and then fell silent for nearly all of the 2nd half, with many of them leaving well before the end. An odd bunch, for sure. I have no problem with fans wanting to be next to the away fans but to have a proper home end has made a lot difference to the atmosphere generally. | | | |

All I would say about the minutes silence fiasco is, why does football indulge itself in so may of these pointless ceremonies week after week anyway, often a minute;s silence for spam cause or person nobody's ever herd of? They are meaningless to many fans in the ground and an irritation to most who just want to get on with the game. No wonder some fans igmore them as on Saturday. There are numerous ways in which the Nation can pay tribute and respect to those who gave their lives in war but it has nothing to do with football and it's time football stopped it's indulgence in self flagellation. Nobody was playing the Last Post and observing a minute's silence in West Quay.aster all.

Finally, someone who agrees with me. War Christmas seems to come around earlier and earlier each year and it’s got nothing to do with football. When you live outside of the UK for a bit it’s stuff like this that comes across as really weird after a while. Saints have got Germans coming out of their ears FFS. They must think it’s odd too.
