I was at Birkdale in 98 when he nearly won as an amateur, then he spent the next five years playing golf worse than me. Great to see a nice guy finish first.

Heard a rumour that he was a fellow sufferer.

In any case, well done son.

Absolutely brilliant.

And i liked the line "a lot of us come from great men and we have a responsibility to our children to show what a great man can be".

Great win and I hope Luke got some insight on how to win a major. He has promised so much.

Great tournament, and so much better without the Tiger Woods hype and hysteria getting in the way.Proppah tournament. The third round's always crucial to Justin, once he got a decent round in he always had a chance since he has a good final 18.Absolutely delighted for the guy and despite one or two loudmouths in the crowd.

Yep, really enjoyed that tournament.

Proper scoring, no Woods fawning after round 2, delighted for Rose. He's deserved that for a while now. As others have said, nice guy too. Also like it whenever Mickelson's involved as he too is a proper gent who always manages to make it exciting

You gotta feel a little for Mickelson. What a wonderful golfer he is and such a fine example of a sportsman. Class act. Looks like the US opem may evade him. Rose - fantastic effort. Wasn't sure he had a major in him but hats off, fantastic.

happy for him but f**k me.

I had striker, schwarzel and fowler. What a collapse. Echo the mickelson comments. Absolute gent.

Well done Rose.

Stayed up to watch until the end. So pleased for him.

Played the last beautifully.

Can see him getting a couple more now.
