Went for a beer after work today and was talking to a mate about the world cup etc and we were trying to figure out the best games we have seen but it couldn't be the club you support, after 3 pints we came up with these
1/ France 3 - West Germany 3, 1982 World cup
2/ Spurs 2 -Coventry 3 1987 FA cup final
3/ West Germany 1 -Holland 2 1988 euro semi
4/ Italy 3-Brazil 2 World cup 1982
5/ Milan 3 - Liverpool 3 champions league final 2005
so whats your top 5 games where you havent had to hide behind the sofa or bite your nails watching Rangers ??

Chelsea 2 Forest 6 (1986?) - I went with a friend of mine and his Chelsea supporting workmate. Chelsea were 2-1 up in ten minutes then Franz Carr went to work on Doug Rougvie. One of my most enjoyable afternoons ever, all the better because I didn't dare say anything apart from joining in the home fans' abuse of their own players.

NZ vs Kuwait when qualifying for 82 World Cup - exceedingly dodgy 2-2.draw thanks to ref giving them a penalty - huge crowd for NZ & fired up, even my dear old Dad giving ref an earful!
FA Cup was an early hours of the morning gig down here & enjoyed a few but the Coventry v Spurs match both for the footie, the upset & the crack with good mates wins out.
Holland in 88 Euro's were pretty special & agree with OP that the semi final was pick of the matches.

I actually think Mark Lawrenson is great. Some of the one liners he comes out crack me up.
The other night commenting during the Colombia game that Uruguay are lacking a bit of bite up front.
Then in the studio the other week when they were showing some of the photos fans had tweeted in of where they were watching the game, and some family had decked out their living room in a Rio World cup theme complete with statue of Jesus to which Lawrenson just replies "Christ"..
Maybe it's just me but I think his sarcasm and witty remarks are hilarious.

had a couple of mates who were west ham, im sure that semi final was the one with tony gale getting sent off ?? they were convinced their name was on the cup that year ha ha, mind you it was non stop singing their end even when they were 4-0 down all you could hear was "johnny lylalls claret blue army " non stop for about 30 minutes
also another great game I remember on the big match was Man utd 3 - spurs 3 must have been around 85 ?? hoddle ran the show that day
