Forward from Linfield 09:03 - Aug 18 with 13638 viewsaston_hoop

We have made an offer for Linfield forward Paul Smyth apparently. 19 years old. Anyone know anything about him?

Poll: Moses Odubajo - Stick or Twist?

I'd love that for selfish patriotic reasons alone. He can't cost that much shirley?

Who was the other fella we bought from either Glentotan or Linfield, and where is he now? I'm drawing a complete blank.

Are you thinking of Ryan Manning?

Is he the son of Paul McGee? You won't find him on you tube.

Had a spell with Stockport now back in Ireland I think

Yeah. There was a mild caffufle over the money and we didn't go any further:

Which turned out to be the right move because he went to Stockport, didn't do too much and went home again 2 years later. Now 33.

As Jimmy Nostrils would say: we move on.

Was he the guy we were trying to snatch from under the noses of Gretna? It drew the attention of perhaps the only ever Gretna troll. I wonder what he's doing now.

Perhaps he ran away to get divorced.

There must be direct flights from Gretna to Reno, no?

Thompson sustained a punctured lung when he went to Stockport.Never really got back in and returned for another season, maybe two at Linfiield.Probably retired now.
My brother manages at Championship level in the Irish League and reckons Smyth looks a decent enough player but hard to tell how he would adapt to full time football.

We have been scouting him since last season. Rated as one of the best players in the league.
However we're not the only club after him........

Been getting rave reviews at Linfield

I must be a saddo but these sort of signings excite me more than the likes of going for Bogle at Wigan, you never know he could be an Irish Jamie vardy

And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot That’s there that’s two, and that’s Bowles Brian Moore

Would this potential signing be one for the future or now?

I too like the fact he could be an unearthed gem...

Belfast Telegraph (reported in WLS) saying close to a deal being made.

Is it really feasible having Smith, Smithies and Smyth in the same team?

Linfield quoted his value at around £1 million.

In these frugal times i would have guessed around £200,000 would have been sufficient.

I see he scored on saturday.

Perhaps he can develop a sore back, just to help get this across the line... I believe that the going ailment for those wanting a transfer.

Why stop now, just when I'm hating it
Poll: Is it essential that QPR stay in the Borough of H&F?

The million pound quote is from Manager Healy who obviously wants to keep him.
Reading Linfield forums they reckon 150,000 with an add on percentage would be good bussiness for them so maybe not a massive punt for us to take.
Pete the Postie ended up leaving them for £150,000.

Would be quite the punt but at 19 years old and for the right price, why the fck not - seems like we've been tracking him a while and with the scouting network we have now we can be a little more assured that these kind of left-field targets are more of a well measured risk.
