Recent defensive improvements 10:46 - Nov 5 with 1377 viewsnumptydumpty

So a month ago, a few whispers about knowing we always need score three to win games, but admitting we often did create enough chances to do so but clearly not ideal.

So in last three performances, only goal we conceded was a fortunate deflection, that otherwise would have been saved and in injury time also.

So Sunderland Forest and Cardiff but then only two goals in total in these fixtures scored by ourselves.

Right - Now all we got do, is do both at same time.

Ie score more goals, like we were, and concede less, like we achieved recently.

My football management skills - clearly unparalleled !!!!!

If we go back to the Blackburn and Peterborough games it's 3 goals conceded in 5 matches. But, as you point out, has it come at a cost of scoring goals? Over those same matches, we've scored 4. We should take into account the opposition in those games, who haven't been the best.

I hope we have turned a corner with goals conceded but I can't say I've detected any difference in the way we're playing, particularly with the wingbacks high up the pitch. Perhaps others have?

Jordy's injury and Dickie's imminent suspension means I'm not getting too excited by the defence yet.

Add in Barbet's 'strange' performance on Weds as well!

Not much has changed really. I still think we need to score more than we concede on order to win a game - beat that for management knowledge!

Show me a clean sheet against any of Fulham, Bournemouth or WBA in the league (not cup) and then I believe there has been a defensive improvement.

Dickie needs to survive another three games before the expiration date for the five yellow cards suspension. Barbet and Moses can't afford more than one more. It then moves onto to 10 in 37. Johansen already on the journey.

WBA didn't trouble us at all until Sennys error.
