My old dad had a gardener in his latter years and Bob was a simple man but a nice fellow all the same.
It wasn't the best weather this particular day, and I was visiting my parents and brought Bob out a cup of tea.
I said "you alright Bob", as i handed him his tea.
He said to me,
"This weather reminds me of 1957 lad. I was walking along the Thames towpath and this young man was sat there looking miserable with his fishing rod and no sight of a catch. It was p*ssing down, so I said to him, you want to go under that bridge mate as the fish will be under there, as they will be hiding from the rain."
His random response wasn't the answer, I was expecting !!!!
He was an interesting man Bob, as when he could not get the mower to work, he would kick seven bells out of it f'ing and blinding like a trooper. We all used to watch him do this with great amusement !!!
