Watched there Jools holland gig. Pretentious nonsense. Never got this lot and still dont. Saw them support The Idles with 200 people not that long ago and now look at them.
Been a big fan of early Fontaine's DC, and have posted a few in here over the years, but have to agree with you. Was very disappointed with the Jools show, but I guess it's inevitable they've gone the way of so many bands. I'm thinking of you in particular Arctic Monkeys!
Check out Gurriers if you want something similar, another Irish band but far from pretentious. Saw them live 18 months ago in a very small venue, and again this week.Awesome.
Haven't seen Jools Holland appearance, but the new album is really good and they do have a solid set list now. I like the way they continue to reinvent and evolve.
Must admit I don't know the band well enough to know if they are coming across as pretentious or if the new found fame has changed them, but I really like the music.
They’re not for everyone.quiet like them myself and they’re selling out arenas all over the world. On Irish musicians. We lost one of our greats, Donal Lunny yesterday. RIP . Music is all about taste. I’d sooner sand paper my eyeballs than listen to Coldplay but people love them . I don’t get it but they shift lorry loads of albums so what do I know.
They, and IDLES, always make me think of Nathan Barley.
Stefan Moore, Stefan Moore running down the wing. Stefan Moore, Stefan Moore running down the wing. He runs like a cheetah, his crosses couldn't be sweeter. Stefan Moore. Stefan Moore. Stefan Moore.
Saw them at Ally Pally a few years back and they were decent enough but wouldn’t see them again. Best Irish bands at the moment for me are Kingfishr who seem to be gaining a lot of momentum and The Scratch whose gig at the Electric Ballroom was a blast recently. Shane about those absolute tw4tbadgers Kneecap though.

Great band, great name. I've been called a gurrier in my time. I've listened to it once but I was disappointed with the new DC album, I loved Skinty Fia so I'll give it another listen before making full judgement.

Gurriers Party Lines reminds me of early Kasabian, before Serge disappeared up his own arse.

I saw them there and Hammersmith Apollo. Every time they release an album, I heard the single off the new one and it didn't do anything for me and have yet to hear the whole thing. Bug fan of the first 3 albums and the last one grew on me a lot.
