We have had so many excellent (some even brilliant) black players, just like so any excellent (some even brilliant) white players - not sure I get this

Why not celebrate it?
We've had threads on here celebrating Irish XI's.
I love that we have ideas like this.
"The opposite of love, after all, is not hate, but indifference."

Bruno's goal is up there, just wonderful, and the way Wilkins is strolling about controlling the tempo.
I get celebrating the great, and not so great, black players we've been privileged to watch, and also get Myke's point that by doing this, are we not reinforcing the difference (be it just skin pigment) between people of different hues?
Anyway, what a f**king goal.

That's a good question and I wouldn't make too much of an issue over recent players, but I think it is fair enough when we're looking at the distinctive history of our club. We were relative pioneers of black players back when there were massive barriers* to them, including players in positions that weren't thought "natural" for black guys e.g. Bob Hazell at CB or Derek Richardson in goal (OK, not great, but how long was it after that before another black goalkeeper played in the top flight?)
Similarly there's a link with Ireland due to the whole Kilburn/West London Irish thing and I think it's fine to celebrate that, or you could do it with youth team products. I suppose Scottish players is sort of the reverse, it's bloody hard to think of an XI!
*including at this club - Les Ferdinand commented that he had to go to Hayes to get football while we were signing lads from Ireland, and we missed out on John Barnes

The fact that we can list several teams worth of of great black players and characters is worth celebrating. I’d say there are lots of teams that couldn’t do the same.
