If this guy was fast tracked to the Premier, thank god, they can have him. Awful. Obvious bookings when Odubajo was down the line twice, lost count of how many shirt pulls, another non booking on Gray pulled back, guessed decisions etc

Made a few odd calls, but overall didn’t have a problem with him. Not sure how Woods got it of it without a yellow though. He’s not the player he was.
Personally I thought he was the empathetic referee I've ever seen. Desperate not to upset anyone by giving a free kick or god forbid a penalty. Corners and throw ins mostly guesswork.
There's a few teams I can think of that we've played recently that would have had him wrapped around their fingers.

There were no realistic penalty shouts. The one we all went up for was never a pen and the handball on the box was not intentional and hit him on arm from point blank...
Ref got those right..
He should have booked a few Brum players earlier but otherwise let game flow. Just because decisions don't go out way doesn't mean the ref had a poor game

Rather looked to me like someone was playing rugby league with Dykes in their box just leading up to Chair's first. I'll be kind and say he was playing advantage.
Free kick and corner given to them because they appealed for them, he didn't have a clue. Letting the game flow is one thing, but there were several free kicks - both ways - that should have been given but weren't where possession changed hands as a result.
He'll be noted by certain teams as one to take advantage of.
thought he was OK, other than being too soft on a very physical Brum side (Bowyeresque) - as others have said he will be manipulated by some teams. Dozzell's booking was purely down to how loud Woods screamed when he fell, there was nothing in the challenge at all. We really do need to master some of these dark arts, lost count of the times, Willock was hit late especially on one run in the second half.
Didn’t make any game-changing howlers and was correct on the penalty shouts but still had a very poor game. Tedious pedantry over the positioning of free kicks and throws, ignored textbook yellow cards (Bela repeatedly stepping across to clatter Moses as ran past sticks in the memory) and got plenty of smaller decisions wrong, from throw-ins to corners.
Agreed. He was irritating. Not much more than that.
I thought he was pretty good, if a bit fussy on things that don't matter. Let both sets of defenders put in tough tackles, no problem with that. Rightly dismissed laughable dives by Charlie and Chong. I didn't think Moses was fouled in the box either. His claim, weak as it was, was undermined by slipping over a couple of times before. Only Dykes had cause to be aggrieved, perhaps.
The Birmingham player who had a hand injury. The ref invited the physios onto the pitch instead of telling the player to go off for treatment. Then after the game was stopped for about a minute decided to tell them to leave the playing area.
Late in the game told Brum to move a free kick about thirty yards from their goal back about eight and then when they ignored him and took it anyway let them carry on.

Probably a five and a half, could do better.
That player with a hand injury had a dislocated finger put back in place on the pitch. I assumed they allowed them to do it there and then to spare him the pain.

He was about ten yards from the touchline and walking towards it. Treatment is supposed to happen off the pitch. It would have taken a few seconds for him to go to the line.
It bloody hurt from where I was watching. It was a shame that the crowd didn't become silent at that time so we could hear the screams of pain coming from the player. He was certainly jumping around as they tried to manipulate it back into place.
As for the ref, poor in my view, pedantic and let a lot go against both Dykes and Gray.
Just didn’t let the game flow where there was possibilities to and missed a couple of bookings for both sides (Moses - simulation, Amos - late tackle) which had an impact on the players behaviour as the game went on.
Don’t know why officials think not making a decision is a better thing to do than making a decision I.e. Assistant not flagging the direction of a throw! It’s not like you have your finger on the nuclear button! You’re not there to be liked either, do your job (and it is a job) and deal with the reaction.
He was a bit pernickety with placement of free kicks but got the big decisions right.
He could have, possibly should have booked Bela, for stopping Moses, but it was only a final warning. Which was heeded.
Dozzell's yellow was, possibly, a little harsh. But I'd be upset if deliberatly breaking up a move like that didn't result in a yellow. Moses fall wasn't a penalty neither was the "handball". He allowed some "robust" challenges. From Dickie, Dunne, Ball and Barbet.

Moses pen shout I thought was a slip live (from 80 yards away!), both yellows fine and thought he got most foul/non foul calls correct.
He does have a maddening habit of insisting every fk and throw taken from the exact correct blade of grass - both annoying and pointless at this level.
Final technical point - that IDFK given after the Barbet FK 2nd half, would have been because Chair was less than 1M from the wall when the fk was taken.

We came to that conclusion Paul. That would make it very good refereeing in spotting the offence.
Mind you, the chip over the wall wasn't quite up to the standard of the Venables to Francis free kick of days gone past!
Of course, there are some decisions yesterday that I would disagree with, but I can't recall any of us having a real moan about the ref yesterday.
same! tell you what though, pinner, did you see that first time diag he did second half under real pressure at the back? absolute worldie of a pass that. Flat, hard, fast. Perfection.

Don't recall, but he's certainly a mixed bag - couple of 'simple' short passes early on went straight into touch!
