Perhaps Lord Derry could do a whimsical travel-piece, 'Derry in Derry', just walking around the place and talking to people. It could be the first in an improbable all Rangers series of former/current Rs talking about places/personages/cultural phenomena of interest for the layman/woman:

(Gerry) Francis on (St) Francis (of Assisi)
(Ilias) Chair on Ioensco's The Chairs
(Tony) Currie on curry etc. etc.

Do any other dotorgers have any similarly hilarious pitches?

You staying in Derry, Bazza?

We got the train there from Castlerock earlier this year - spent a day there being tourists. Walked across the Peace Bridge and ended up eating cakes and shopping which is a bit poor, to be fair. Good vibe about the place and very friendly.

Loads to do very vibrant place. Walk the walls and ideally get someone to give you a tour - the walls are very well preserved and you can lookout at the bog side from them. Free Derry corner has the museum and the Bloody Sunday memorial nearby. Loads of good pubs

Whole city dresses up and parties for Halloween - went a couple of years ago and was fabulous thousands out and real carnival atmosphere

From a historical perspective The Walls ,Cathedral and Siege Museum would be well worth a visit.

How about Fenwick goes to Fenwicks where former QPR, Tottenham and England defender Terry visits branches of the department store.

Call it Derry and you'll be fine 9 times out of 10. Home to the Undertones and a cracking City.

Ha ha. And makes the surprising disclosure that his great grandfather founded the store, whom he almost followed into retail.

Must be 5+ years ago but enjoyed a visit. Stayed in the Maldron for a work weekend. Had a cracking night in Bennigans with a polish/Irish gypsey punk band who knocked my socks off.
Loads of history, lovely people.

Love the place, the people and the accents.

Last time I was there the highlights for me were the Peace Bridge, the Brandywell (watch The BBC documentary 'A different League - the Derry City Story' first) and the Bentley Bar.

Also he Bloody Sunday Centre provides a fascinating insight into a tragic event, which coincidentally happened 50 years ago this weekend.
