Few people deserve the title of genius but Vengelis was one of them. RIP.

Never knowingly right.

I'll need to look into a lot of this - a good activity for a Friday. I never listened past Chariots of Fire tbh but that alone gives him a deserved place in history.

RIP VG

A genius without a shadow of a doubt. RIP.

There's a story which goes that Yes were once seeking a new keyboard player and singer Jon was keen to give the role to Vangelis. The Greek keyboard maestro duly went to meet the rest of the band. It didn't go well. He proceeded to demonstrate his skills on the others' instruments, so adeptly as to be annoying, and that was the end of that.

With him, Froese and Schulze all up there now, there is the potential for one hell of a synth supergroup.

This is my favourite track by him. The dynamic range is incredible. There is a strong melody, and the classical underpinnings you might expect from him, but parts of it are explosive, although there are subtle layers of sound too.

Sadly, if the album was reissued, they might have to change its title because the earth's albedo - the degree to which it reflects solar radiation - has declined due to the melting of glaciers and the ice caps.

"Things had started becoming increasingly desperate at Loftus Road but QPR have been handed a massive lifeline and the place has absolutely erupted. it's carnage. It's bedlam. It's 1-1."
