Not the most talented squad we’ve ever had but gutsy effort to qualify for our 5th World Cup in a row. South American teams are always tough to beat but we did it with good old fashioned guts and solid organisation. Not expecting anything from a group with Denmark and France but Football is a funny game.

I’m a very proud Aussie today. 😃⚽️🥂

I watched the second half and thought Australia could have won it in regulation but they got the job done so fair play to them.
That group at WC does not look overwhelming for Australia with France playing like crap right now and Denmark are hot and cold.Of course the WC is a while away yet so France will pick up their play but its a huge ocasion for the Aussies.
I cannot finish without mentioning the complete bull crap both goalkeepers were up to in the shootout .The ref was very poor IMO both keepers should have been warned if not carded.
One Aussie shooter was ready to deliver when the Peru keeper literally walked away to get a drink it was shocking bad sportsmanship.
The Aussie keeper looked like a clown until he pulled off that save but its something that should be adressed going forward

Well done, but it's a shame the WC does not include the team with the best kit (apart from blue & white hoops)
If I could be bothered I'd show the Cubillas outside of the foot freekick against Escocia from '78. Brilliant.
Alan Rough, much maligned, was awarded an MBE last week, I'm glad for him, because it's such an underrated goal.
To the best of 'off the top of my head' knowledge, Rangers have never had a Peruvian player,
Argies, Chileans, Brazilians, a Uruguayan, a Venezuelan, a Colombian but a resident of Lima eludes us. To be honest the only recent one I can think of is Nobby Solano who I sort of hope is now a tour guide when I visit Machu Picchu.

Agreed, its nonsense keepers doing this stuff and getting away with it.

Well done but will this mean Luongo will be gracing our screens this winter?

Tell me No.

During the penalty shootout, Redmayne noticed that the Peruvian keeper was seen looking at his water bottle between shots, presumably reading notes on the Socceroos penalty takers. While his teammate Goodwin was lining up his kick, Redmayne was seen grabbing the water bottle and placing it behind a billboard.

Now that is the real reason why he came on for the penalties. Typical Aussie!

Did anybody see the highlights of New Zeland V Costa Rica yesterday .In the final frenzy from NZ a ball was driven into the box and a NZ player got literally hammered to the ground without any call.
It was the most clear penalty I have ever seen yet the ref completly ignored the appeals.VAR was used earlier so it was available ,I feel terible for the NZ players the least they deserved was a shootout .

Well done the Aussies.
Now it's all settled, bring on the Panini sticker book.

I just see the winning penalty save, think even Grobelaar would have been embarrassed by those antics 😆

I couldn’t believe what I was seeing, I actually thought at the time that it was affecting the goalkeepers performance. Mostly He seemed to try and jump off the wrong leg because he was dancing and couldn’t get anywhere near the ball.

I wonder if Dykes is regretting his decision to opt for Scotland over the Aussies ?
