Backroom staff update on 12:15 - Jun 18 with 4460 views | dmm | Two coaches out, one coach in. I wonder if there'll be any more coaches Beale wants to recruit, though as always, we may well be limited by budget.

Good point. There were issues between Warburton and Ramsey and I assume Ramsey will have had little first team input. Now perhaps Beale will want Ramsey more involved at a first team level thus augmenting the number coaches working with him.

Eustace was assistant manager whilst Gardiner was a coach, so I expect he'll bring in an assistant manager - maybe the fella from Scotland that was linked a week or so back. He may even bring in another as he supposedly likes specialist coaches for defence, midfield, set-pieces etc.

Hmm when it comes to financial outlay the size of our backroom staff is rarely taken into consideration, but I would imagine it is quite significant. You would have to wonder exactly how many backroom staff members a small to medium Championship club, with a much heralded limited budget, actually needs?
Backroom staff update on 15:00 - Jun 18 with 3780 views | DejR_vu | No one on the staff with any First Team Management experience, interesting. No doubting their credentials as coaches but then the last coaching team was very good. This looks more and more of a gamble. MB is clearly well respected as a coach, and has a background in development, but haven’t we been here before? Didn’t end well last time, although MW has left a far better legacy than the mess back then, so hopefully, we get a better outcome. The cynic in me says this looks increasingly like LF strengthening his own position by removing a good coach with strong opinions for a good coach, in his first no1 position, who’s less likely to assert his own. Not a popular opinion, down-arrow away!

I guess coaches are cheap in comparison to players so may represent better value, particularly if we're looking to develop players. But there is definitely a balance to be struck.

Backroom staff update on 20:51 - Jun 18 with 2946 views | BklynRanger | What on earth makes you think that Beale will have less strong opinions than Warburton? Solely the idea that it's his first job? If anything he'll have more reason to feel backed by everyone at the club based on the outpouring of video content. and he's had plenty of high profile support and experience in his career so far. My fear about Beale is actually more to do with potential arrogance than timidity. I think he'll be far from a pushover and if it doesn't work Les will be in a weaker position if anything. You might want to have another, closer, read. No one has said this appointment is LF’s decision.
