Anyone ever found a real bargain on Black Friday ? Can't say I have. The newspapers this week saying most of these offers can be had at any time. Handy if you want a few Steely Dan albums….
I've done sort of okay, In the last ten days I've bought 2 Fender pedals, 1 Boss tremolo pedal 1 Fender Tweed all valve amplifier, 1 matching Fender Tweed 1 X 12 cab (bloody good discount) and I've been watching a shop that are selling old stock of PRS American made guitars that are quite heavily discounted at the moment, not my cup of tea If I'm honest. So all in all I haven't done too bad nothing special apart from the Fender Tweed cab which was a bloody good discount; Feck me It sounds bloody good.
My Father had a profound influence on me, he was a lunatic.
Most deals are usually end of line products they want to shift or stuff that’s simply s**t (i.e Polaroid tv’s that people were fighting over a few years ago) and normally can’t be sold.
I guess you can get a bargain if you don’t mind it’s not very good or not the latest product.

Ted what's the site please? I'd love to own a PRS.
I also read what OP said about deals being most offers can be had at other times.
I did get a Meater + (Digital Meat Thermometer - exciting I know!!)
They were £119 on Amazon and had been since I started looking.
I did see that they were £65 for a real short period a year ago but been watching for around 6 months and never moved. Costco then got in and had at £88.99 but I waited a few more weeks as Black Friday coming and Costco reduced to £64.99. I dont have a membership but a mate grabbed for me.
So yes it has been that price before but I never see it.
Pricespy is always good to check you are getting a decent deal!
Never shopped on Black Friday, too many people, it's bloody uncomfortable. But, tomorrow I will be gritting my teeth and heading out into the melee, unbelievably two of my finish nail guns went down within a matter of days and I'll be damned if I'm going back to hand nailing!

Peach Guitars Colchester;
Click on the sale--electric guitars and scroll down, the PRS electric ones are mostly PRS S2 Standard £1,629,00 reduced too £899,00. I looked into them and from what I discovered they are assembled in the USA factory in America but the electrics are assembled In China!!!! Make of that what you will but It put me right off, I found that information from Youtube reviews.
There are bargains out there but you gotta hunt around and have the patience.

Ted, I wonder if you have any experience of the Fender Player series guitars ? I've been hovering over buying a Player series Strat while I can still move my fingers. I had an early 70s Strat which I sold about 30 years ago - probably worth about 15 grand now. And an 80s Paisley Tele which I sold for a grand a couple of years back.

Mate I had Fender Player Series Strat earlier this year and It was okay, well made etcetera and It's Fenders best seller (or used to be), Go on Youtube type It In and you'll get a much better opinion there. I traded mine In for an American made 'American Performer Stratocaster' which was a new design and fitted with Three Yosemite single-coil pickups, these were new PUP's and to be honest when I got It home I took It back after three days as It was IMO bloody awful, the PUP's were bloody crap and try as I might I couldn't get the right sound/tone, It cost me a few extra £s but I've now got an American made Fender 1957 American Vintage II Strat that Is just superb (and expensive) Solid Ash body (weigh's a ton) but the answer to all my prayers. I've got three Vintera Series Telecasters, a 60's sunburst with a Bigsby, a black70's Telecaster Custom and a Fender 60's Modified Tele in Seafoam Green with Fender Custom Shop PUP's BTW Fender Mexico have come on leaps and bounds since the bad old day's and while I'm truly not an expert (more a nerd) I'd have no hesitation recommending the Fender Player Series.
*Nerd alert* my three amplifiers are all---all valve, none of this digital bolox In my Man cave, volume and tone.
Hope that helps.

Hey Joe.
Thanks Ted. I'll probably go ahead and get a Player Strat. My old 70s strat was pretty knackered. I was going to take it to Sam Li in Denmark Street to have it overhauled but a mate offered me a good price for it. I played a 1986 reissue Strat made in Japan recently but it didn't have that “glassy” Strat sound. The Player series seem good value at around 650 quid.

Thanks Ted, I'm also weighing up a Epiphone Les Paul classic. You seem to be more of a Fender man. Have you any experience with Epiphone Les Pauls?
Great story from a kitchen guy my daughter got a quote from.
Massivly overpriced anyway so not using him but this is what he came up with.
Initial quote (just to change work tops) a few weeks ago was £3,000.
Too expensive my daughter said, OK 10% off he said down to £2,700.
Thinking about it (not really but hadn't actually said no to him.)
He comes back today and says its Black Friday so I can do 20% off - OK so that's £2,400 she says.
Oh No he replies its still £2,700 as its 20% of my original price which I had already knocked 10% off before I gave you another 10%..
Soooooo 10% off = £2,700
Black Friday 20% off - £2,700
Irrespective of the fact that he's clearly trying to rip your daughter off, that's not how percentages work anyway.
If £3000 already includes a 10% discount then the original price that he failed to tell her must have been £3300. So Black Friday 20% discount should be £660 off. the original £3300 giving £2640.

"Remember to listen to me but look at her. Don't get it the wrong way round. That would be hideous."

I had 2 Epiphone Les Pauls. An LP standard made in S Korea which was pretty good and a Gold Top made in China which seemed sort of awkward to play and control, but maybe down to my shortcomings as a player. I couldn't really get a fat Les Paul sound from either though. Ted would probably give a more helpful reply. Jimi Hendrix once said of me: “Who the f*** is that asshole?”

I currently have an Epiphone Slash Les Paul Standard Vermillion Burst w/Hard Case, these are being discounted at the moment quite heavily. Peach £499.00 from £899.00. PMT Same price as above. It's okay, reasonably well made-decent playability and works well with my Marshall DSL1 head and cab.
Epiphone have upped their game over the last few Years they simply had too to keep up.
I'm nerding myself to death here, You know that don't you?

Wow, I'll look at that that is cheap. I've tried a couple of Fenders and I really want one but I find the necks too thin.
What's the difference between the Telecaster and Strat?
