I'm going to be watching this from France, simultaneously with a former colleague who lives in Bangkok and is a LCFC fan.

I know I am a luddite, but the fact that we can and will be doing this is something I find utterly amazing! It was only 35 years ago when I first started living/travelling abroad, and I was mesmerised by how some local radio stations in Oz would take the feed from BBC radio and you could listen to commentary of a game from England.

In fact, if memory serves me, the pre-Saturday game before Xmas in 1990 was against Sunderland. My mate and I stayed in to listen to the second half of the game on the BBC, which resumed with us two-nil down. Pulled it back, and won 3-2 win, whereupon we went off in to the Perth night to get royally larupped!

Who knows how we'll be watching the Rs in time, probably interactively being sat wherever we are and being 'in' the ground.

'kin 'ave it Rangers!!!

I was at an AI workshop earlier this year and the facilitator challenged us to think of a domain which was immune to be dramatically changed by AI. I said sport, because people wouldn't want to sit around watching machines competing - robot wars notwithstanding. He argued that there would be a future where we should be doing precisely that, essentially watching CGI renderings of probabilistically determined 'sports'. Sounds shit if you ask me. But then in the middle east there's a huge market for the premiership and people chop and change their allegiances from game to game so 🤷‍♂️

I just can't see how AI is going to be able to probabilistically calculate what Mbengue is going to do!

I mean, AI is clever stuff, worryingly so, but I just don't see us having the necessary processing power to successfully predict what our man will do.
