Apologies if this has been covered before but I wasn’t particularly enthusiastic about spending my weekend trawling through the noticeboard in search of the relevant thread.
Anyway, it looks like FIFA, bless ‘em, may have partially relented in their water ‘ban’ at the World Cup. Fans were previously not permitted to bring in their own supplies (for the health and safety of players and officials apparently) although premium priced bottles of the stuff could be purchased once inside the grounds. However, a new edict has now been issued:
“All fans will be permitted to bring in one, soft, plastic, 20 ounces (590ml), factory sealed disposable water bottle into any Fifa World Cup 2026 match in the USA and Canada.”

Been standard practice in the US for a while not to allow bottle caps and stuff, they take them away when they give you a beer, but whether it's driven by legitimate concerns for safety or it has always been a money grab is more up for debate |  | | |
