I've felt this way ever since the BBC got forced to move to Salford for being too London-centric, so now its in media city with all the other TV companies being Manchester-centric.

Manchester seems to be the only definition of "north" so everywhere else that you'd consider "north" will continue to get forgotten about, and forget about us Midlanders, we might as well be absolutely nowhere...

Too Southern for the Northerners, too Northern for the Southerners...(trying to think how to link that to the Simpsons Treehouse of Horror episode of Bart's evil twin but it probably needs someone cleverer than me to finish it off...)

I used to tell passengers that the expression ‘bilking’ (making off without paying the fare) came about because the bowler-hatted, goatee-bearded clarinettist was the first person to be convicted of such an offence.

Fortunately I never heard from his lawyers.
