Absolutely, I don’t think we have many decent referees at this level, and when you hear someone as experienced as him saying, he used to play games during the match. If you look at the context of what he’s said and think of the betting markets nowadays, it makes you question the whole integrity of officials!

The most sustained centre circle activity I can recall occurred in the early 80’s when the myopic playmaker of our amateur football club’s 6th XI lost a contact lens in the middle of the pitch.
For the next 20 minutes both teams - and the referee (to maintain the topicality of the thread) took to all fours in what I’m happy to say was an ultimately successful effort to locate the small disc of flexible plastic. | | | |
