The Frankie Friday Music Thread.....RIP 07:01 - Apr 4 with 2018251 viewsLblock

Here I am starting this from my recovery bed and no clue how to link tunes on an iPhone!

Will stick on my offerings from a PC later unless the other knuckles thread is the preference to use?

House classics and dancey dazzlers only, no hijacking from suicide rock please!

In the beginning there was jack.......

Been meaning to update for years.
Can only be one.......

That choon will always remind me of the do's at Broadway Boulevard --- some proper munted nights in there.

This one has been up on this thread at least twice but when talking of those days this simply HAS to brought back to the fore and rockin the dancefloor.

N I C E

I think it was called Zig Zig on a Thursday night?

Many a good night in there.

CCJ, happy b'day to your boy...... I think that was my soul scene at that age.

Anyway here's a bit of a mix of bit's and pieces from over the years.

progressive house ....it's thin-skinned, temperamental, ripens early. It's, you know, it's not a survivor like techno , which can just grow anywhere and uh, thrive even when it's neglected.

No, Prog needs constant care and attention. You know? And in fact it can only grow in these really specific, little, tucked away corners of the world. And, and only the most patient and nurturing of Producers can do it, really.

Only somebody who really takes the time to understand Prog's potential can then coax it into its fullest expression. Then, I mean, oh its sounds , they're just the most haunting and brilliant and thrilling and subtle and... ancient on the planet.....

Just a couple from the Journeys by DJ Danny Rampling CD that I've just been reaquainting myself with, that I don't think have been on here and even if they have they're worthy of another hearing to.

There's some tunes that deserve to be up multiple times and Salsa House definitely one of them

I'm starting the day on a mellow / disco tip but revving it right up as we build towards tomorrow and a rather large game
Here's one I got turned back into during the week
Sisters Love were Sly & The Family Stones backing singers but had a great release of their own called Gimme Your Love which is pure class. This one has been covered really well by the sometimes wonderful but always quirky Miss Paloma Faith. Sticking with the original here for some soul that's so deep it hurts.

putting this classic up, from around 92, Paul trouble Anderson, used to bang this one out a lot in the day

also a bit of Todd Terry to kick off the Friday

Love the celion dion sample in this as well

If Ashford didn't win a Grammy for that "Hair, Mankini and Casual Backdoor" triumvirate, there's no justice in this world.
