.Another episode in the series of 'the worlds gone mad' . Those naughty England rugby players encroached during the Hakka on Saturday. An utter nonsense routine given the right treatment. The idea of intimidating the opposition really worked didnt it ???

The haka is gloriously camp and hilariously funny, even more so the over-the-top reverence of it. Any notion that a dance should decide the outcome of the game is beyond ridicule.
I get that it's cultural. I never understood why the Irish rugby team don't respond culturally and line up on the half-way line with this craic! And there goes Johnny Sexton in the white shirt!
Have that New Zealand!
Well that made my evening Brian and I laughed hard . I always thought the All Blacks had it their own way with the Haka and was hoping Ireland or any country would actually face them down during it . How about 1 player take a few steps forward alone then his whole team join him and link arms in a straight line without flinching to set the tone. As for fining England its pathetic maybe they are still angry NZ are gone

The Haka used to be performed on tour, and was pretty average. Buck Shelford came into the All Blacks and he got them understanding its signifigence. The original 'ka mate ka mate' is about a chief who is on the run hiding under a womans skirt in a kumara patch. Then the ABs had their own one written. Its got to the point in New Zealand where there is saturation Haka. Done correctly and appropriately it can be stirring. I think the ABs over do it.

Brian, have a look at the Maori Battalion performing the Haka. It certainly doesn't look camp.

They didn't have a problem with a response, the fine and its nominal nature is because they crossed over the halfway line
The Haka isn't part of the game, so why can you be fined for crossing the halfway line during it? Ridiculous. Its not like we got in their faces or anything. Well we did, in quite convincing fashion, but not until after the game started.
Maybe its time for all other nations to demand the same amount of time before every game for their own bit of self indulgence while the Kiwis have to stand still and 'respect' it? Coin toss for who goes first. After all, wouldn't want anyone gaining an unfair advantage.

Well, I guess both teams were enacting one of their cultural traditions, as New Zealand performed the haka and England crossed a line and invaded someone else's territory

All a bit different in 1973.
The All Blacks Haka back then looked like Lindisfarne on the old Grey Whistle test, performing 'Meet Me on the corner,' after dropping 1o shillings worth of Micro dot blotting paper on their Efferent nerve fibers.

New one on me, my man, but I made myself chuckle a little bit. Apologies for my subconscious being unoriginal.
Well I hadn't heard any mention of Riverdance before and I had a chuckle.
To add to it and the Morris Dancing, a highland fling with swords on the ground for Scotland and for the French some sort of clingy, slow waltz with ciggy hanging from bottom lip, whilst Edith Piath gurgles 'Je N'Regrette Rien' (apologies to the French for any grammatical or spelling mistakes)

What a complete overreaction to a man trying to get a mental edge before a rugby match.
History is history and can't be undone. What happened, happened and you can't blame the current generation for it. We can only learn from previous generations crimes and mistakes and we did just as much evil to the lower classes in this country.
Still I suppose he had to find something to write about and if it stirred a sense of nationalism in people that were hurting from the World Cup knockout and made them feel a bit better then so be it.

Until they were banned the French fans used to bring cockerels to games and let them loose. Was quite the scene

Surely if we want a dance to represent the French it has to be the Can-Can?

the bloke who get sent off against Wales should defiantly belt out 'je ne regrette rien' (Franglais je parle).
Meanwhile, Emperor Macron could strut about inspecting his 'troops' (Away games only, seems to do his best to avoid being in France itself)
