I think the EFL (surprise surprise) make us play on the earliest available midweek. Still doesn't explain why we couldn't have played Blackburn on the Wednesday and the cup game on the Saturday. |

We might have had no choice if Blackburn wouldn’t agree to play our game on Wednesday.We couldn’t play on Saturday if Millwall v Sheffield Utd was on tv on that day,so the choice could’ve been between a crap Friday night or Sunday morning and only 2 days before our long trip north. |  | | |

4 weeks lost this season to meaningless Internationals, something needs to be done about it. Hate the concept but just give automatic qualification to big 8 in Euros and big 16 in World Cup, let the shit have competitive games for the other places and the top international sides play midweek friendlies against each other as a filler.

In the good old days, every cup tie started at 3.00 pm on a Saturday so every one turned up at 2 pm, paid 3 bob to get into an FA Cup game, paid sixpence for a programme, walked up the muddy South Africa Road hill, found a crash barrier on the half way line, bought a packet of Percy Daltons roasted nuts, and waited of heaven to arrive at 2.55 pm.

In the league Sheff Utd play at home when Sheff Wed play away and vice versa. If a situation arises where they're both in the same place on the same day it gets shifted. |  | | |

However I will say the International break between January and May is one weekend in March where we miss one game so does not effect the FA Cup. | | | |

I make you right and am just pleased they didn't make us play it between Brentford and Leeds.
It is a pragmatic decision, they weren't going to get big gate receipts anyway and it shows the club is taking both competitions seriously. Hope it works out.

there was no way police would want sheff u and millwall as a night game to much bad blood between them and trying to control london bridge and bermo at night weekend would have been a nightmare | | | |
